Some reports are filtering through that England's pace battery will be rested after the World Cup. Anderson also won't be fit (probably).

Which leaves Broad, the Currans and Moeen Ali I guess?

I hope the English team are so emotionally and physically drained from the WC that they go through the motions here and get thoroughly walloped.

I don't see it like that myself . In my opinion Anderson and Broad will be fine on the bench ...and Anderson aint worth risking due to his calf strain . But anyone new we're hoping to select for an Ashes place needs to run out against Ireland . Archer and whoever else needs a blooding should be out on the field .

I also actually fancy starting to bring in the likes of Tom Curran etc in for the older bowlers anyway, because we aren't going to have Anderson and Broad around for that much longer .

Unlikely as Broad, Curran and Anderson (if fit) will all come in and no disrespect to Ireland but if they can't do the job we deserve to lose.

Is uppercut back in the motherland or have we let that lot play us at cricket?

What are the chances that Jamie Porter gets a debut? Probably deserves one at this point and has been recognised by many as the bowler who will takeover from Anderson eventually (not to say he will be as good obvs)

Quite possible if they decide not to risk Anderson and a few of the World Cup players. He has to be high up the list of next cab off the rank given how well he has done in recent seasons.

If it wasn't for the 18 years thing I'd probably be cheering Ireland harder than I would Australia, lol.

If they do it will be rebranded as the important wake up call that sets them up to win the ashes

England should definitely troll them by selecting Morgan
We should be picking him anyway as specialist captain.

Burns
Roy
Bairstow
Root
Morgan (c)
Stokes
Butler (wk)
Moeen
TCurran
Broad
Porter

Anderson in for Porter and Woakes in for TCurran for the ashes.

Might be better if you rephrase that :D .

He is carrying an injury though , I just think it's important not to throw these lads into the Ashes hellfire .
