*Official* India Tour of England 2018

These close ' moral victory ' defeats are worse than actual wallopings in which we are never in the game. Happening too often.

This is definitely the most unsettled and vulnerable England batting side to play a home season for a while to be fair. Openers not scoring runs for a start. Things never change in that aspect, but our often exceptional middle order has been distinctively average, with our best batsman batting out of position and in probably his worst home form in his test career. I think the sides which defeated India in 2014 and 2011 were easily the better and more established teams.

In this age you can't really expect touring teams to beat the home side, especially across five test matches. But this really was a great oppertunity for this Indian side who seemed to have the batting and the bowling for the occassion. They lost the small moments in the 1st and 4th test and subsequently have lost the series. Conditions didn't even really seem to turn the game extremely against india's favour either to be honest. Other than Lord's of course. I just think a good team has under performed

India's seamers did good. Ashwin not being able to cash in when he should've against piss poor batting and weaker than piss batting from India has hurt them.
Yep - Kohli has been magnificent.

There's been one or two innings from Rahane here and there and one great one from Pujara. Beyond that though...bare bones.

The old timers on this forum really know their cricket. As soon as England crossed a 170ish lead, you guys were certain this chase was impossible.

Will be interesting to see what changes are made for the final test.

Drop Rashid for Woakes if he's fit for the next match, no point keeping him in the team if Root isn't going to trust him to bowl and the superior spinner in Moeen is in the team.

Smith can't be considered way better than Kohli at this point. The gap is minimal since Kohli now has scored runs everywhere.

Good stuff, hope we get to see Porter in the next match as well as a new opener for Jennings to build on that score with. Wonder who we'll get at 3? Probably Mo, although he is going to need a strong opening partnership behind him. Gripping in the end but I still stand by the fact that had India even won 2 tosses this series then they'd either be ahead or series level. The two teams are even in these conditions, India have an exceptional seam attack. Jadeja probably should have played. Kohli is absolutely streets ahead of Root as a batsman. Rashid, Cook and Bairstow out. In Porter, Pope and Burns.

India will rue their missed opportunities in this series. Should have won game one. Lost every toss. Missed their best bowler in these conditions and second best for two tests. Should have batted better first innings. Ashwin injured too had a major impact. England were there for the taking, but alas, everything will be hunky dory until they get hammered in Sri Lanka.

Well not long in from work. What did I miss?

Can't wait to read about the alleged umpire mistake and how people will have lost their heads on here.

On topic of how difficult these fourth innings chases are, the current Windies team deserves some credit for their chases recently. For how bad a team they are, they are absurdly good at forth inning chases. Remember them chasing 300+ against England in England and 200+ against Pakistan in UAE. Impressive stuff.
