Yes, I think Murali should always make any "Top 10 Greatest Cricketers" list.
The unfortunate reality for Murali is a decent portion of the cricketing world would not consider him in their top 10 for you know what reason...

Apart from national bias, how is McGrath better than Marshall, Lara & Hadlee?
Took more wickets in a batsman friendly era at as good or as better an average, and was as durable as anyone, playing a **** load of tests for a quick.

McGrath is the shizz. He's maybe the best bowler ever, he was that good. He just got every **** out without looking spectacular doing it. Look how he went on any wicket with the slightest bit in it like in England. Transmogrify him for a moment to an era where there were a lot more of those wickets. He was just a ridiculous bowler.

Nice story, only so were Marshall & Hadlee ridiculous bowlers.

At the Hadlee, Marshall, McGrath level, it comes down to personal preference & my question to listento_me wasn't actually serious, only an ironic response to him questioning somebody else as to why they selected certain bonafide all-time greats over another bonafide ATG in their top 10.

FTR, I'd rank them Marshall, Hadee & McGrath in that order, but take no real issue with somebody selecting McGrath first.

Indeed they were and I get where you're coming from. But the batsmen of the 2000s are acknowledged as playing in an era where the decks were mostly pretty flat and get rated with that in mind. McGrath took bulk wickets very cheaply in the same era but that often isn't taken into account.

McGrath always looked like he was about to get a wicket. And he usually was.

Was the rarest of occasions when he wasn't on top of the game. He and Marshall are a cut above the others as pure bowlers for their records in all conditions against every opponent.

Gold standard IMO fast bowlers: Marshall, Ambrose, Lillee, McGrath, Donald, Steyn, Wasim, Imran, Hadlee, Trueman (?)

I watched Marshall especially against Australia and regard him as one of the best ever bowlers, the other is McGrath, I wont say one was better than the other because they both were so good.
