Cricket Web Server Move - 7th July 2014

On 7th July, we will be moving from our current server to a new server as required by our hosting provider:

Hosting Provider said:
We wanted to let you know that we are migrating all accounts, including your dedicated server, from their existing data center to our very own facility in Dallas with a better and more stable network. Your dedicated server will need to be migrated over to this new and improved setup, as we are closing our presence in the old data center.

This will involve a period of downtime of approximately 8 hours across the following time. The outage period will vary depending on
network speeds at the time, disk performance as well as general load already on the server.

We will be providing updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages so please stay tuned to them for the latest updates.

Is 8 hours guaranteed James or is that worst case?
Yes 8 hours is pretty much worst case. It should be a lot less providing everything goes well.

There's DNS changes as well though so it may take people a little bit of time to hit the new server.

No feedback? I assume that means no one is having any problems? :)
I had to do a DNS flush to get back on here (on both PC and tablet). If I didn't have l337 googling skills, I wouldn't be able to complain on here anyway :p

If you were having problems, you should have got an Account Moved page that linked through for instructions DNS flushing?

Good to hear you figured it out anyway :)

Yeah, those instructions did not work. There weren't any instructions for iOS either. Restarting the machines did the trick (which is also apparently the only way to flush DNS on an iOS device).

Suggest replacing the landing page with this during the next server move :p :
