Tbf, I'd accept an average of 20 from a number 8 batsman in Test cricket.
True but not the man you want if you just want someone to hang around, he tried to do that today and in hindsight he would of been better playing his natural 6 over cow corner self. Boult averages 17 so it's not like we have a long tail anyway.

I've debated this with HDS on a couple of occasions. Personally I think Southee is better to have a license when he bats, suits him much more than prodding and poking - Within reason of course i.e. Surviving the last couple of overs to save a test match.

in this situation he should be batting 10.

How good is JimmyGS? We should start a thread about him now that he's not around to complain about it.

Southee should float in the tail IMO. Situations like this when there's still a recognised batsman in - bat him below Craig at least, perhaps Wagner. In situations like the first test where runs are on the board and we want to get as many as quickly as possible, Southee comes in at 8.

Gee how good is Neesh
Indeed. The rate & the quality of his stroke-play, particularly the way he rolls his wrists on the hook-shot is equally as impressive as his record is early doors.

Just needs to learn how to bowl tightly now :p

Okay, there's the 250. Getting less depressed by the second here now we're an outside chance for 300, although have to say it looks like a good batting track. Hate to see Gayle getting in on it.

One feels that both Taylor and Williamson could've done better with the deliveries that got them out, but you can say that about 90% of dismissals in cricket.
