Changes To Indian Team in Next Series Onwards

When Dhoni comes in with the score (or, when batting in the third innings, the lead) at 250 or less he averages 28.13 with the bat. That seems pretty average already but it includes this hundred on one of the flattest pitches in the history of cricket - exclude that and the average goes down to 26.72, which is really quite terrible.

He's just not really capable of playing an innings of substance that really contributes to the team position in a match without a lot of luck of a right proper road.

He's only good for cameos in tests, but refuses to do that
Because that's just not good enough at #7. Especially if he's going to be captain. He needs to try and build proper innings of substance and if he can't do that India should try out someone else. If he's only good enough to play cameos then he shouldn't be playing and he knows that, which is why he does what he does.

I'd still play him in the SC.

But that 28.13 will come down to 20-22 outside SC, I guess. Quite appalling, really. There are better batsmen in our country among wicketkeepers, surely. And there are jokers in this forum who think Dhoni should bat at no. 6!

Dhoni is too big a brand to be dropped. I'm sure the hundred odd companies he endorses will be in the BCCI's ears in case they have the bottle to take him out.

Play to your strengths etc. Building innings at number 7 is of little use if you're bad at it, and when you know the guys around you aren't going to last much longer. Besides, cameos take the attack to bowling, put pressure back on the fielders and might help the guy at the other end ease in and settle down.

Laxman should retire. Kohli and Sharma should come at number 5 and 6. Ashwin should bat ahead of Dhoni. And VK shouldnt be anywhere near the test team :(

Sehwag moves down the order and Dravid opens. Drop Ishant for Ojha and play 2 spinners. Ashwin in for Vinay and Rohit for Laxman.

Gambhir
Dravid
Tendulkar
Sharma
Kohli (Captain)
Sehwag
Saha
Ashwin
Khan
Yadav
Ojha

Edit: have Kohli captain !

‎"I am saying this with a heavy heart, but once the IPL comes around in April, every Test defeat will be forgotten." - Bishan Singh Bedi

about 80% of the average cricket fans in rural (and about 50% of urban) India are not even aware of the fact that a Test series going on Down Under.Local cable net works are reluctant to broadcast Tests because very few enthusiasts watch it even when India is winning. When inquired about it the response was that 'we will broadcast the ODI series'.Seeing that these sort of fans are the chief source of income for BCCI and the sponsors and advertisers,I think the BCCI (and most of the senior Indian cricketers)are not unduly worried about what is happening in the Tests in Australia. So Bedi may be stating a fact and we may not expect any drastic changes until India start to lose in ODIs at home.
