Clark and Lee were both at least as good as Walker.

As a combination they were pretty handy. Would've loved to see McGrath, Gillespie and Clark at/ near their best but it never happened.
Gillespie was better than either Clark or Lee. You can't put someone in all time trio if they play less than 25 matches no matter how good their average. And Lee has only been good sporadically.

I agree. But I still think they were better than Srinath. More marginal with Lee though.

Clark at his best was amazing tbh. Underrated, I would suggest.
I agree, he was lethal but he only played during his peak and hence all we got to see of him was at his best and iirc he was quite average in the Ashes in England in 2009. But for that 2006-2008 period he was excellent.

When you think about it though, very few sides had 3 ATG pacemen playing at exactly the same time. (That I can think of)

Agreed that McGrath-Gillespie-Clark would have been awesome to see.

Praveen >>>>>>>>>>>>> Sree.

Sree self destructs in the middle of a match so often that he even loses his run ups. It's happened multiple times. Get him out.
It's a pity I cannot give you reputation points for this post (a la a few other forums). Seconded this point completely.

As a captain, the most important thing I'd want is an ability to trust my bowler. Not sure I can do that with when I see a lunatic with the red cherry in his hand.

Okay, Sreesanth's prosperous belly doesn't fill me with great confidence. Zaheer, Ishant and Praveen it is.

Ok. So his record doesn't count. Cheers for that.
8-) no one said that. He still was great for the 24 matches he played in, but that's too short a test career to put him up with other bowlers with similar stats. It would be like calling Hussey 2nd best batsman in the world if he was dropped after 20 tests.

Of course. But I'm not comparing Clark to Marshall or McGrath, I'm comparing him to Javagal Srinath ffs.

IMO Sreesanth and Amit Mishra have bowled their way out of contention.

I think I would still pick Munaf over Praveen Kumar considering that they would be coming on 1st change to do a holding job on a fairly flat wicket. Munaf is the least likely of the two to get carted under these conditions.

Zaheer, Ishant and Praveen- Zaheer and Ishant anyway have their places sealed, while Praveen has recent form as well as a good record in FC matches. He can also add a few lower order runs- that can pave the way for a fifth bowler, particularly Mishra (also capable with the bat, in this squad), to make the side under ideal conditions. Sreesanth's form has been poor, while Munaf lacks pace, which will weaken the side. That makes them at best at par with Praveen, and neither bring anything to the table besides their bowling. Given one of Sree, Praveen and Munaf, the best choice at present is Praveen, as that gives you an option to tweak and beef up the team.

Yes.That's the best combination.
And I like that 5th bowler option too. With Bhajji,Praveen & Mishra haveing batting capabilities.
5 bowlers wont be a bad choice in those conditions. So,Raina & Yuvraj, both can rest.
