ICC Awards

Cricinfo
'The nominations, which recognise cricketing achievement for the period between 24 August 2009 and 10 August 2010, were made by a five-man selection panel chaired by Clive Lloyd, chairman of the ICC cricket committee. The panel also includes former international players Angus Fraser, Matthew Hayden, Ravi Shastri and Duncan Fletcher'.

Just looking at the Test nominees and how they did -

Test Player of the Year

Dhoni - 9 Tests 594 runs at 66.00
Iqbal - 7 Tests 837 runs at 59.78
Jayawardena - 7 Tests 849 runs at 70.75
Kallis - 9 Tests 849 runs at 60.64
Katich - 9 Tests 991 runs at 61.93
Sangakkara - 7 Tests 867 runs at 78.81
Samaraweera - 7 Tests 625 runs at 78.12
Sehwag - 10 Tests 1282 runs at 85.46
Dale Steyn - 8 Tests 41 wickets at 20.78

Sachin Tendulkar - 10 Tests 1064 runs at 81.84
Shane Watson - 9 Tests 750 runs at 46.87 ~ 24 wickets at 20.87
Swann looks the odd one out there, bowling average over 27 compared to the rest of the bowlers.

Swann is a spinner averaging 27 with the ball and probably the best match winner among the list during last year. On contrast to those aussie quicks bowl against WI, PAK, NZ and boosted their averages.
Who the **** cares though..

Steyn/Sehwag for Test
Watto for ODI
Sachin for Player (Sehwag outside chance)
Aamir for Emerging

Nominations are cadswallop..

Easy to forget the fact Watto's ODI record is seriously good tbh. Averages over 40 with the bat and under 30 with the ball; as far as I can see, Klusener and RTD are the only other two players in the same boat, and RTD obvs. fairly inflated from playing minnows all the time.
Greg Chappell.

Pretty much agree with this.

Sachin has to be the real Frontrunner for the overall award.

Btw,they Don't have a T20 player of the year award?

Glad they put Swann in. Deserves to be on the list, and if Clive Lloyd is man enough to admit that he feels they stuffed up by leaving him off, caps off Big Cat.

They have T20 performance in a game.. That should be hussey's(60*) I reckon, or that WI woman who scored a 100.

Test captain: Dhoni
Test team: Dhoni, Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, Graeme Swann, Tendulkar, Hashim Amla, Simon Katich, Dale Steyn, Jacques Kallis, James Anderson and Doug Bollinger
ODI captain: Ponting
ODI team: Ponting, Tendulkar, Shane Watson, Michael Hussey, AB de Villiers, Paul Collingwood, Dhoni, Daniel Vettori, Suart Broad, Bollinger and Ryan. Harris

Yes he indeed does!

Good result. He was definitely the best player over the two formats this year. Sehwag may have just pipped him in tests, and Devilliers may have just pipped him in ODIs, but definitely the best cricketer this year overall.
