Not really. Has been since the new curator moved in at the start of last year, but before that it was harder to take wickets than at Adelaide.

Would hardly say that it's been an unfair pitch, by the way.
Yeah, just meant recently, historically it's been flat. Thought it'd been a seamer's deck for at least two seasons (not including this one) though.

Last year was the first time that it really actually favoured pace bowling. A new curator (from Melbourne) moved there at the beginning of 2007/08, but that was just at the start of the year, and TCA wanted a pitch which gave them a chance of getting more outright results.

What the hell? Why did the coverage finish early in SA? For Millionaire Hotseat?!?!

Would argue he got rewarded for his impatience, pretty ordinary effort at a bouncer.
Didn't see much wrong with it, tbh. Not an awesome bumper by any means but I thought it was a decent follow-up to a couple of overs of length bowling to Nash. Ordinary shot, though.

Nah, it was there, was an ordinary ball, get a centimetre more bat onto that and it's flying over slips for four.

Absolutely terrible decision by Gayle to refer that decision, hugely selfish, especially coming from the captain who should be putting his team's interests above all else. Chanderpaul somewhat in the same boat, it could've pitched outside the line, but surely a team should only be referring lbw decisions if the batsman is absolutely positive that he got an edge on it. It'll be interesting to see if batsmen who know they're not out in terms of whether they got an edge or not will start presenting the bat towards the HotSpot cameras to help reprieve them. Or, on the other hand, if they'll hide the bat if they know it will work against them.

You don't expect anything less from Nein? Also, has there been a change in policy between Ch 9 and CA? Because in every home city where a Test is being played, unless it is a sell-out, they won't start coverage until 2.30pm local time, but we are getting full coverage (at least on the Gold Coast, don't see why it wouldn't be different in Brisbane which is an hour away).

CH 9 on the Gold Coast and Brisbane are different, GC have WIN and Brisbane doesn't so usually you can watch the full days play on the GC but only the last 2 hours in Brisbane.

This year though you can watch all the coverage in Brissie even, except for the last over or so when it switches to the all important Millionaire Hotseat.

Suprised you don't know he's not rated too highly on here, Ashes condusive conditions nonwithstanding so clearly not a case of turning on players quickly (although the comment as a generalisation has merit).

Watto's been great in slips today, Ponting not so much.

Seems like teams lose the plot when referring vs Australia, SA were aweful as well.
The fact that conditions were helpful during the Ashes isn't really the point though, he was the only bowler who showed any discipline or consistency and looked like he had a plan. I'd have thought that being the man (the only man, really) to step up when the attack was struggling so badly in the most important series there is would count for something. One expensive over after the series has finished and people want him out.

Really great spell from Johnson. He's just so much better when he's getting 4-5 balls an over on that off-stump line, builds a lot of pressure and batsmen can't just leave them and score off the bad stuff.

Geez Dowlin looks ordinary thus far.
Despite that, Dowlin is still there....
