Shame he can't say his a record breaker anymore.

Anyhow, this is the highest score at Newlands in a test and South Africa's highest total against Aus.

haha @ this on cricinfo

"Oy, from Aus, is not impressed with Haddin: "Brad Haddin is approaching 200 byes in only 15 tests. Perhaps some sort of record too. The man is clearly a backstop, not a wicketkeeper."

Big test for the strong Aussie batting line-up here. Still think there's around 35 overs left in the day, so great confidence will be taken should they get through this final session unscathed. SA showed the track is probably at its best to bat on, so there should be no concerns in this area. Steyn will no doubt be handful with the new ball, as will Ntini with his angle across Katich and Hughes, but first target for Australia is see off the new ball.

De Villiers was awesome after lunch, his assault on McDonald was full of classic strokeplay. Think there was one of the sixes that he really climbed into and looked most like a slog, but apart from that it was quality authentic cricket hitting.

Question has to be asked why Katich didnt bowl until the end

Whole game seems to have been treated as an experiment by the Aussies and they're duly being thrashed by opponents that deserved more respect

This test confirms my belief that Ponting is a crap captain. It has only been because of the talent that he has had in the team that has given such a good win/loss ratio.

It seems strange the a guy with the nickname Punter, who loves a bet is such a saftey first, no risk captain.

Sack him and bring back Warnie as captain

Play Haddin as a specialist batsman. His glovework is some of the worst I've seen since my days in the Under 12's.

he has my full support to captain the side poorly to overseas test series victories for years to come :)

Yeh I dunno I was a fan of his captaincy for the first few years but in the past 12-18 months, questions just keep getting posed that I don't like the answers to. He's fading and declining.

Man watch Hughes bat is so unnerving. His ugly ungainly stance makes it look like he's going to get bowled or caught every delivery. Unbelievable how he manages to score bucketloads.

not completely surprising, it's a mentally exhausting job and even worse as our media delved into decadence after we had such a great run for many years. Can't really see him stepping down but it would probably be a blessing in disguise.
