Qadir was a truly great bowler but I wanted a fifth bowler and Mushtaq was a fabulous all rounder and a genuine world class leg spinner. I saw him score his hundred on debut you know

Once you have Mushtaq in the side, I could bring in some variation in spin by way of the left arm spinner. Iqbal Qasim is one of the most under rated players ever from Pakistan. He was the only one I have seen the great Indian batting sides pay massive amount of respect to. And if the wicket was slightly helpful, he was an out and out match winner. Unfortunately a modest man in a side full of prima donnas.

If one ignores the fact that both spinners are leg spinners (and no one else bowls amongst the batsmen bowls even part-time spin of a different variety), I would consider that as the strongest Pakistani side one can think of.

For me the fact that Mushtaq Mohammad was so underbowled has to be one of the greatest mysteries. He was rarely taken to the cleaners by batsmen and yet he bowled so little. The figures of Pakistan's major spinners over the years tell a very interesting tale.

Pretty common for bowling captains, especially, I'd imagine, allrounders who may feel that their bowling is not their stronger skill.
