Gilchrist calls Tendulkar a "Bad Sport"

He was playing cricket, didn't hear the phrase at issue, and continues to say that. Which is why he wasn't a witness at the hearing, like every other player on the field who was out of earshot (save Ponting of course, to whom the incident was reported by his players).
He was added as witness, but failed to show up in the hearing, and his absence was deemed as not having an effect on the procedings iirc.

Now that he comes out with this, it puts only him in a bad light imho.

But why? Seriously. Why?

If he came out now and said "I heard what he said" but didn't say anything at the time, I'd fully agree with you. But he hasn't. He's simply said what he saw and heard, nothing's changed. In fact, if he tried to give evidence in a court hearing and said what's in the article, his evidence would likely be excluded as irrelevant, because he didn't hear anything.

Makes a handy little intro to the AB though, doesn't it? :)

Agree with Burgey, Fuller, Clapo and have feelings for DCYE that are weird and confusing.

Actually I am ok with what Gilly has "revealed" about in his book regarding the Bhajji-Symmo episode, because he has explictly stated he did'nt hear the actual thing. But his next lines, i.e, analyzing Harby's reaction and body language to ostensibly arrive at a conclusion (not explicitly stated, but obvious) is what irked me. This from a man who failed/refused to turn up in the hearing.

Just a newspaper serialising a book. If that's the "juciest" stuff they have in the whole thing then it'll be a damn flavourless autobiography.

Fair nuff. Opinions on these things will always depend on our individual views :).

Yeah. Problem with being squeaky clean like Gilly is your memoirs may not be as juicy as those of some others. I will be interested to read what he says about Warney though.

Yeah, I mean, TBF, there's not all that much interesting about a relative good-guy whose career has basically been one long high with few dramas like Adam Craig Gilchrist.

Same as Alec Stewart. Much as he was a far superior cricketer to Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain or Graham Thorpe, the fact that there was no major drama in his career (apart from the fact he spent half of it trying to persuade people he wasn't too old to play for England) or in his private life, and that he wasn't a physically or mentally tormented soul, meant his book was nothing like as interesting as theirs were.

EDIT: heh, beaten to most of that by Burge.

Adam Gilchrist makes accusations at Sachin Tendulkar or being a bad sport, in his autobiography "True Colors".

Tendulkar's crime? Not being found in the dressing room, to shake hands with, post a match which Australia won.

He also questions Tendulkar's integrity on the Monkey-gate incident. And implies that Harby indeed called Symonds a monkey.

What's with the guy?
Who cares?

When reading the article do you take it all in or just see the headline? I really can't see what any fuss would be about.

A lot, who swear by Tendulkar's squeaky clean career.

And am not Conn to jump into conclusions.
Whether the allegations have any substance to them, I think it's taken as a given that Sachin, by virtue of being human, is not queaky clean. Any assumption to the contrary is denial. Seriously, his deification is ridiculous and, to be honest, that he'd surely have some faults doesn't and shouldn't take away from the fact he's probably a pretty great guy.

And, again, don't dignify Conn's writing by reading it!

Tendulkar is God born human. That is his fault.

Tendulkar is GOD, born HUMAN. That is his fault.

Agreed entirely. A non event for me and as some have said, if this is the biggest character flaw they can find in Sachin Tendulkar in over 19 years of cricket then that's amazing in itself.

Tendulkar is a great man no doubt and one that should be respected. However at the end of the day he is human and he is going to make mistakes. It's no reason to get heated up over this.

Gilchrist doesn't actually accuse Tendulkar of being a 'bad sport'. Again, another sensationlist attention grabbing headline is misleading.

If the Indian media decides to sensationalise this, which seems inevitable atm, Gilly, considering his IPL prospects might as well be pressed to come up with some clearing the air.

Unneeded.

Would be very surprised if it goes that way. They might ask but he'll be well within his rights to tell them where to go and doubt it'll hurt his IPL career.

Indian electronic media is stupid enough to spend zillions of news minutes on this. If they haven't so far it could be because they haven't noticed this bit of 'news' :)

So a newspaper writes an eyecatching headline that doesn't reflect what's actually said in the article and the usual suspects bounce up and down about it. There's no news in any of that.
