He's been having a great season. 4 goals and 8 assists (#1 in the EPL, #3 in Europe) all while playing deep in that midfield 3. Isn't getting the headlines as much anymore but still brilliant.

He's been having the season of a player who is over the hill. Being carried by the team.

He was never that good to begin with anyway; a poor man's Frank Lampard.

Yeah, I never used to believe it, but if we compare their achievements and general performances, one can't deny that Lampard was the better player.

You don't even have to look at his performances and achievements; a quick look at the market tells you all you need to know. Not one single club has thought it worthwhile to pay money for Gerrard in his entire career; quite the surprise when you consider how many big clubs there are in England. You'd think at least one of them would have wanted his services over the years.

Chelsea almost did, until they remembered they already had Lumpard.

Reckon Mourinho just trolled Liverpool into improving Gerrard's contract so that they couldn't actually afford good players.

Smart man is Jose. A complete dick, but smart.

Yeah, their inability to recruit good players meant they had to buy a load of crap, so no wonder Gerrard stood out. His performances have been made to look a lot better by virtue of the fact he's been surrounded by so much dross. Lampard on the other hand, has repeatedly stood out as a key man in a much better side.

Ah, would've been funnier had he let them spend vast amounts of money on crap in a bid to keep up. Especially if the players they did sign were overpriced British players...

I honestly believe that had Gerard Lopez not had his career ruined by injuries, he would have been better than Steven Gerrard. All the top teams in Europe were after him at one stage, a slightly more prestigious honour than being accused of beating up someone in a nightclub.

Was a sham that he wasn't convicted, quite frankly.
