A question (inspired by seeing Brumby's choice of Platini) - are our players being judged only on their performances post-1986, or is greatness before that date considered as long as they were still playing?

I thought it was the first myself, especially when the example of Maradona was given as justification of keeping it as 86. Think Brumby thought that also considering his line about "being past his past but still better than others". Could be wrong though.

Yeah fair enough - Platini was still bloody good in 86 and afterwards anyway, just thought I'd check.

I interpreted it the other way actually. I'd prefer to just look at the teams and judge which one looks best rather than have to consider how good they were in the '86+ period.

Just me though. Most of my players will probably come from the 90s anyway.
