Italia for the win...... :P
But seriously. England won't win again. I love Johnson but I don't think he is coach material.

Going to leave myself a hostage to fortune and make my predictions for the first weekend:

Ireland to beat Italy by 25
England to beat Wales by 10
France to beat Scotland by 13

Think yer Micks will have a game on their hands up front, but Italy will butcher far too much of their possession and will tire towards the end.

England's powder-puff front row will struggle (Payne and Wilson must be close to the weakest prop pairing we've put out in the many years I've been watching), but Moody will be a force at the breakdown and we'll get good carry from Shaw & Easter. We have some serious gas in our back four and Jonny should kick his points.

Scotland will be, as ever, game but limited. Paterson's boot a plus, but will struggle at the breakdown. Their best chance is rain.

Gower landed a very nice penalty from all of 45 yards, but 13-3 doesn't flatter Ireland at all.

Never hand Gower down as much of a place-kicker, little Preston was always first choice for Pennie back in the day, but looked rather decent judging by that effort.

& O'Gara lands another as I type after an ugly spear from Garcia, who gets 10 minutes in the bin for his trouble. Tho judging by the red of his hair Garcia's on the wrong side...

Paterson's actually pretty average with his kicking. Sure he gets 100% regularly, but if you notice he 'delegates' all the ones on an angle and those that are far out. Taints the statistic for mine.

Only the far out ones because he hasn't got the power. I've never seen him turn down anything that could possibly be a conversion. I'm not saying it hasn't happened, but when I've watched an awkward angle hasn't ever put him off.

I don't know if that taints the statistic or not. It's not really his job.. I suppose it depends on how good the specialist distance kicker is. I'd never hold it against Percy Montgomery that he let Francois Steyn take the big ones.

Stephen Jones

Expecting the Scottish halves to put up a slightly better performance than the Welsh ones. Which may mean they'll keep the deficit to the three scores the French flankers will produce.

Nathan mutha****in Hines is back for Scotland, hell yeah. Prepare for him to dominate the entire pitch for 30 minutes before getting sent of for breathing fire on the french scrum.

After 3/3 last week, I'll offer my prognostications for this round:

Wales to beat Scotland by 18. - Scotland will be game, but I can't see them hurting the Welsh anywhere. Wales were slightly slandered by England's margin of victory and will be out to make a statement.

France to beat Ireland by 10 - One never really knows with the French, but Lievremont has largely resisted the urge to suffle his deck once more, but recalling the genuinely lightening Vincent Clerc (who has one of those names one feels compelled to state in full; it's never "Clerc", always "Van-san Clerc") strengthens the team anyway IMHO. French should win it up front, but have a habit of dozing off for periods so it could be close if Ferris, Heaslip & Wallace gain a foothold against the really rather good French back row.

England to beat Italy by 15 - Italy have a good scrum and tight five in particular, but their backs are workmanlike at best and Parisse's ball-carrying will be missed. Yer Eyeties will beat us one day, but it won't be tomorrow.

Super try for John Barclay; smashes through (admittedly gash) tackles from Hook & Cooper and Paterson adds the extras. 7-0 to the Sweaties after ten.

Would love it if the Scotland kept this up and stuffed the Welsh in their own back yard. Wooden spoon would be even better for them. Lets see their moronic fans go on about being world class and merely underperforming every single match after that.
