In the broader Australian cricket fan base, I'd say someone like Davo or Norm O'Neil are good shouts for this title.

Dempster much better shout here IMO.

Turner is probably underrated, but definitely not unknown.
Any NZ cricketer not Hadlee, Crowe or KW is largely in the dark. People are still sleeping on Taylor's ODI exploits.

John Waite may rival Nourse for somebody who should definitely make SA's ATXI but isn't well known. Best 'keeper in the world for quite a while and could also hold a bat.

I like how we're basically ignoring the OP.

There was this bloke called Rahul Neesham playing for some Grade club on the new Ashes Cricket game who averaged like 93. Probably him tbh.

Looked up some Ashes scorecards. During Mead's career, at least 2 vastly inferior batsmen played ahead of him. Both Jack Hearne and Percy Chapman played about 25 tests as batsmen averaging under 30. FC averages of 41 and 31 respectively make the decision even more bewildering. Hendren and Wolley aside, there couldn't have been any better middle order batsmen around.

All recent players should be known, many from the past are easily forgotten, so let's put that right.

Cricketer Of The Year
Add Colin Bland to any South African list. He was regarded as one of the world's best fieldsman as well as being a fine bat.

Whatever it takes!!!
Personally, had never heard of Aubrey Faulkner before I joined this forum. Now, he is someone I gun for in just about every draft where he is eligible.
