Nz opt batting vs Sri Lanka.

Plenty of spinners 6 specialist & few part timer in the combined team of 22.

Embuldenia is he playing test before?

State Captain
Don't think he will tbh. Wagner is still first choice and I'm looking forward to seeing him on bouncy Australian pitches after he missed out in 2015 to Doug ***in Bracewell.
"But Doug did good once so he's the best!" Ian Smith

Is he? The lineup I'm seeing has him batting 7 as the keeper.

Furthermore, why is Rameez commentating a Sri Lanka/New Zealand game?
Cricinfo team sheet had him 3 with Perera taking the gloves at 6. It's now been corrected. Odd

Dunno how to feel bout 3 spinners? Anyway not a bad XI at all.

Gotta score massive here in the first dig.

Surely Chandimal has some kind of beef with the guys in the cricket board or something? He's better than most of the spuds they've picked.

Not able to watch but seems like there was a little movement for the seamers early on. Also, wicket sounds slow.

Yeah Latham's cutting Kumara's 140 pace well in front of square, but quite respectable reverse-cup carry through to Dickwella on a few of his bouncers so far. Similar to how Rabada took seven wickets here.

I get the feeling its their chairman of selectors Ashantha de Mel that's long hated Chandimal. Thinks he's a pretty boy and woefully short of Jayawardene and Sangaklara in the brains department.

Truth behind Karunaratne?s appointment as vice captain | Sunday Observer

We feel that Dimuth has some potential so we give the guy a chance to come good. He is already captaining SSC in the Premier League. He is a thinking cricketer he is someone who is thinking and who can make decisions. Going forward we need somebody like that. The coach should be only a guide for the captain not dictating to the captain making him a robot on the field,” he said.

“If you take between Chandimal and Lakmal both of them are guided by the coach. Chandimal every time he wants to make a change he is looking at the dressing room. As captain he should be able to stand on his feet and take a decision.

“Even at team meetings you must be able to state your plans but what happens is the coach gives the plan and they follow it. The person who will know the most is the captain on the field. How can a coach who sits outside tell you what the game plan is?

“I have spoken to some of the players and the information I am getting is that even at team discussions it is mostly what the coach tells them, there is no input from the players to the coach. The players are silent and the coach tells everything that’s why they are looking at the dressing room. If you want the team to do well the players have to give the input. When Mahela (Jayawardene) and Sanga (Kumar Sangakkara) were captaining they never looked to the dressing room.”
Public call to investigate omission of Chandimal | Sunday Observer

There has been growing public calls for an investigation into the omission of Dinesh Chandimal from Sri Lanka’s World Cup squad which returned to the country early this week after failing to secure the all important semi final slot.

The call for an investigation has been made via social media but a group of cricket enthusiasts are also in the process of petitioning the government to investigate the conduct of head selector Ashantha de Mel who even before the selection process began said publicly that Chandimal will not have a place in the squad.

When he was asked the question why Chandimal was left out, De Mel sidestepped the issue and asked the reporter to state the batting slot that Chandimal could have fitted into.

He made the remarks at a Media briefing after the squad returned.

De Mel then deviated from course and brought in the names of Shehan Jayasuriya and Niroshan Dickwella saying they were in-form batsmen.
