I don't like this plan of completely abandoning intent if Munro goes early. We don't have the players to accelerate later.

Don't understand the tactics here. No attempt to put pressure on the bowlers. No trust in the lower order unless they get < 10 overs to bat?

Yeah I didn't like it either, even before Williamson got out. England have two spinners who it won't be dead easy to score from in the middle overs, and we know our lower order batting is unreliable, so needed more run rate up the front of the innings.

Awful innings from Williamson and also Guptill so far. Unpleasant to see Williamson bat like this.

Into the 9th over, chasing 280+, steady bowling and only 1 attempt to hit over the field. Like being back in the 1980s, Wright and Edgar nudging us to 0-100 off 30 overs.

Don't know why anybody is surprised about Kane. Dude has been awful in limited overs cricket for a long time now.

Nah. He's had a bad season, but was playing brilliantly as recently as the Champions Trophy middle of last year.

latham is a bit of a slow track bully so if he can't score here...
Well NZ do have a garbage middle and lower order for ODIs. They are a top heavy team.
only a couple of blokes averaging mid 40s and another two newbies with good starts to their careers

Averages mean **** all as they encompass a career.

Yeah Taylor isn't the same player he once was and he doesn't have the ability to accelerate. Latham is a tapper who barely ever goes for shots and De Grandhomme is one of the most inconsistent players in all of cricket.

NZ success is completely predicated on their top order.

averaged 60 last year?

CdG has been around 5 minutes and averages 50, and you've ignored Kane and Nicholls completely.

anyway you seem unshakeable in your beliefs so i'll leave you to it

Excellent from these two, especially Latham being the most under-threat selection in the side.

Still don't want more than 80 needed in the last ten overs, so need 60 from the next 9 overs.
