Blimey what on earth happened here then? Turned off at the close of our innings but it seems like our rejuvenated pace attack has come up trumps again

Nice to see Powell living up to his reputation. He's been doing this for the last four or five games tbh. Think Jason Mohammed might come into that middle order if Lewis or Charles fails in the next game again. Yes we're missing people like Gayle, Samuels, Russell, both Bravo's and Pollard but I'm intrgued about what these guys can do here. SL don't have Matthews, Chandimal and Hereth themselves so it's really a battle of sides trying to build for years ahead. Thankfully our boysn drew first blood.

Zari is back in the Caribbean because sadly his mother is ill, Russell is waiting for a verdict from Wada after he missed some drug tests previously, Pooran is playing in the Bangladesh premier league, Narine was with the squad in Zimbabwe and then up and left for some reason (may have something to do with Darren Bravo's dismissal), Simmons is injured and Gayle is Gayle

Whenever I look at at WI card, I'm left baffled. They never seem full strength.
And just when they finally get rid of Samuels and have a chance to construct a good young test team, they boot Darren Bravo.

He's not even always in the team when Mathews plays; they've just made his captain for this series because there are no other senior players playing. Apparently they considered making him Test captain for this tour as well which would have been hilarious.

From our point of view, it's great to see Shai Hope batting and keeping so well. I really enjoy watching him bat.
There are a couple of reasons we didn't win that match IMHO. 1) Why on earth is Benn still getting game time? The guy has never exactly been great and now he's past it he's even worse. You've got Bishoo sitting on the bench when you're playing in spin friendly conditions, it's madness.
Also, Rovman Powell is a canny medium pacer and he hasn't been given a single over by Holder even when his spinners were going at 5/6 runs per over. Really terrible captaincy. He has to up his captaincy game significantly if he is to keep the job.
Really pleased for zimbabwe, I thought they played really well today.

Man Brathwaite is so slow in ODIs but he's still far and away the best choice. I think the WI have it figured out though that you can't pick him and then expect him to score at 80+, they know beforehand that he can't do it and have the icing to adjust their game plan according to that.
