300 run partnership. The Windies tactics for the duration of this partnership has been woeful. Remember when Marsh was on 0, he had 4 fielders on the boundary. This is a guy that makes a duck 25% of his innings.

Perhaps they're conceding this first test by giving Shaun Marsh easy runs so that he cements his spot for the next two where they really step things up in front of record crowds in Melbourne and Sydney. I think getting Burns out was a mistake.

I do wonder if the Aussie think-tank is looking at Khawaja returning as an opener for the next Test in place of Burns.

You'd think so given what this ton means for Darsh. Would be so hard on Usman if Burns makes a ton before his hammy heals and he gets blocked out yet again after his breakthrough performance.

I'd probably dump Mitch Marsh in all honesty. West Indies batting surely doesn't need five bowlers.....

The only person I have any empathy for is Usman Kwaja. This team (WI) would not be able to defeat, or even threaten, my son's First Grade side They are just pathetic

rubbish point. you're trying to build your best side, not piss about for a series.
I see what you mean, but even taking into account the requirement for an all-rounder, I don't think Marsh is the answer right now. And for mine you should try and pick your best XI for the conditions and balance, and Darsh/Burns/Khawaja add more than Mitch Marsh does - if West Indies are to challenge Australia it'll be because they're able to roll us with the ball, not because they score too many runs. It's easy to say "look you're still in our plans, but your batting isn't good enough to bat Top 6 and I feel we need the extra batting more than the bowling"

That said, there's no Shield cricket right now so dropping him now won't really help. And our attack isn't the most durable....

I don't think their bowling needs six specialist batsmen to counter either though. Australia could very likely win with ten players. No reason to change the balance here.
