is Shoaib Malik in contention for the test side? Might be useful with Hafeez unable to bowl.
You'd have to think he is in with a chance. The guy recently received a Category A contract from PCB while Safraz Ahmed and Yasir Shah only received Category B.

haha that's amazing. Classic Pakistan.

Younis and Misbah to be on C class.

Looks as though Pakistan were lucky to get that close anyhow. Top order should be doing more from them. Controversial/stupid end but Zim may have won anyhow. Only 2 overs left ffs

Classic Pakistan for sure. It really annoyed me when I saw it, not sure it was talked about on this forum? In fairness I don't know Pakistan's schedule apart from upcoming Tests vs England,

Category A: Azhar Ali, Mohammad Hafeez, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan

Category B: Ahmed Shehzad, Asad Shafiq, Junaid Khan, Rahat Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Wahab Riaz, Yasir Shah

Category C: Anwar Ali, Fawad Alam, Haris Sohail, Imran Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaan Masood, Umar Akmal

Category D: Babar Azam, Sami Aslam, Sohaib Maqsood, Umar Amin, Zulfiqar Babar, Imad Wasim

Don't think so, hasn't been in a test squad or even an a squad for a while . You are right he'd be a handy option in the SC at least, but his bowling is nowhere good enough to pick him as a frontline bowler and who of the top six can you drop?

He needs Misbah and/or Younis to retire soon to free some places, but Haris and Fawad have beastly four day stats are younger and can bowl and unlike Malik have been in the last few squads, then you got Rizwan who has been awesome so far in the odi team, and also has strong four day numbers and has youth on his side.

Then of course their is Wasim who you have probably seen by now, who is a very tempting option, much younger than Malik, and also excellent numbers with the bat and ball in four day cricket, and a captain at underage levels.

So basically, he needs Younis and Misbah gone, the replacements to fail instantly and maybe then he has a chance.:D

Hope that wasn't all over the place.

I didn't watch him bat but scoring 30 off 60 deliveries against zimbos should ensure that he is crucified by his balls on karachis 3 talwaar.

Can put the debate to bed as Shoaib Malik has been added as a 16th member of the test squad.
