All time best player of all teams

Ever notice how few specialist bowlers make these lists? It's odd in a way, because the game has produced so many more great batsmen than great fast bowlers, that it seems like they'd stick out more (and I also think they're more crucial to being a great team than possessing great batsmen is).

I can see the appeal of all-rounders though.

Is 70s long-hair coming back into consideration in Australia?
Warne, Gillespie, Lee, Hayden, Harvey, Symonds, they've all got too long hair.
Lee got a haircut a couple of days back ;).

I think the most pathetic is Warne's , the amount of time he wasted during the test series giving Gillespie cr*p about his hair , look in the mirror mate

IMO good batsmen are more important. maybe thats cos im a kiwi and until the last couple of years our batting has been woeful.

averages are so hard to compare not only in terms of generations but alse countries. a fast bowler from india with an average of 25, is more impressive than a fast bowler from nz withan average of 25. and a batter from nz with in average of 40 is more impressive than a batter from aussie with an average of 40. thats why i believe crowe would be a very, very close second to hadlee. batting is so much harder in nz than most other countries. a test average of 47 is up there if you play your cricket in nz.

Not, it seems, for much longer!
Pitches around The World are more and more moving towards uniform.

Soutie
Id rate Dawson/Batty as worse than Salisbury..

At least on the off chance that he landed it, the ball would generally turn..

lol worst recent player for NZ - Brendon McCullum? you obviously have no idea Langeveldt.
NZ have really only introduced McCullum over the last couple of years, but you only have to go back to 1999/2000 to find the worst...Chris Nevin.

Australia - I seriously am unable decide between Steve Waugh and Sir Don Bradman.

India - Sachin Tendulkar.

South Africa - Jacques Kallis.

West Indies - Once again, too difficult to decide between Sir Viv Richards and Sir Gary Sobers.

New Zealand - Sir Richard Hadlee.

Zimbabwe - Andy Flower.

Pakistan - Another tie, between Imran Khan and Wasim Akram.

England - Ian Botham.

Sri Lanka - Murali.

You will live to regret putting Brendon McCullum on that list. He will go down in NZ cricket as one of our best EVER. What possesed you to put him on?

Lol even though he is my cousin Craig Cumming would surely be a more appropriate candidate for NZ. Kerry Walmsly? Gareth Hopkins? There are plenty of bad ones

I did wonder if anyone might say Botham for England, but I didn't seriously think it might happen.
Botham was a brilliant player, no disputing, but there are plenty who had higher batting averages and lower bowling averages.
Wilfred Rhodes and WG Grace were two.
And how can anyone possibly consider Richards better than Sobers. IMO Sobers would have been the better player if he couldn't bowl a ball on the square.
Part of the reason why Grace might have had a better batting average is his refusal to leave the crease when out.
