Yeah seriously, they picked a specialist batsman to bat eight in a 20 over game. Not only that but they used up one of their international slots on him and he's not a good fielder.

And Faulkner batted #3 ffs.

What the actual ****.

Anyone think this looks bad now, after the arrests?

Dravid is Rajasthan Captain. Got to assume he takes most of these decisions ?

Would be absolutely shocked, if he was involved in anything like that. Also, he has never been great strategically in LO cricket.

Interesting footwork from Warner on that first-baller. Was coming forward to a swinging half volley, then moved away from it.

Notice how barely active this thread has been over the course of the IPL? I guess Cricketwebbers have moved on.

Yeah Rajasthan, I don't think today was the right time to open the bowling with Brad Hodge.................

Looking at the top run-scorers and wicket-takers...they are all who you would expect. Gayle, Hussey, Kohli, Watson, Rohit, Raina. I'm sure a team with shrewd enough selectors could hoard these strong T20 performers and have a strong side. You might not get Gayle, but big money would be wisely spent on any of these six. Especially Hussey who went for $425k. What idiots would think that $425k is beyond reasonable for Hussey?!

Miller and Finch have both done well too: Miller went for $100,000 which is relatively cheap and the guy averages 38.81 in T20 and Finch averages 35.05 in T20 and both were only picked up as replacements. I swear a good selector could win this tournament at a relatively low cost.

The story with bowlers is similar. Faulkner averaged 19.16 with economy of 7.54 for Melbourne Stars. Absolute bargain at $400k and now he is top wicket taker in the IPL so far. Mishra with 141 T20 wickets at 18.99 and economy of 6.84 has done similarly well this year...who'd have thunk it?! $300k for such an accomplished performer in his home conditions. Selection is not rocket-science...it has become a contest of who is the least-incompetent. Even Mitchell Johnson has had a career of success in T20 and went for just $300k. Undervalued because of his inability to bowl long and consistent spells and the numbers ignored again...more irrationality from the franchises.

- Faulkner, Johnson, Mishra, Hussey, Miller, Finch; these are the smart picks that don't even require you to be that smart. Just look at their success in the format and shell-out for them.

ANYWAY...that wasn't very coherent...but the absence of just one franchise with a team full of smart picks annoys me.

Yeah just looked at the big shows stats this campaign.

36 runs @ 18 and 2 overs 0/23.

He should have went for a million cents, not dollars.

Haha. Such a joke, I can't believe the kid has opened the batting for Australia in Test Cricket. Good luck to him.
