Anyone that would've been a better option than Maxwell in the current test

    Starc
    Johnson
Smith (at least he can bat)
    Lyon
Haddin (play Wade as a bat)
    Paine (see Haddin)
    Hartley (see Haddin)
Voges (bowls the same filth and is a much better bat)
Dussey (see Voges even when horribly out of form)
    SOK
    Hilf (least he can bowl)
    Faulkner
    Butterworth
    Hauritz
    Copeland (least he can bowl)
    etc etc etc

    WTF were they thinking?

    Lyon a chance now, IMHO.

Even if his form hasn't been great, he's been dumped for Xavier D'oherty. That's the Xavier D'oherty, all two first class wickets for the season at 80-odd each of him.

It's like your missus giving you the arse and then taking up with Shane MacGowan; one couldn't help but feel a wee bit slighted no matter how big an arsehole you may've been.

Aussie selectors and Indian selectors trying to outdoe each other in terms of ****ty selections imo... Harbhajan for Ojha was bad enough but Doherty for Lyon? What a bunch of dunderheads

I hope Doherty takes 2-3 wickets despite bowling poorly ala Harbhajan and keeps Lyon out for the remainder of the series

hmmm he's in bad enough form to warrant the dropping (av. of 45 in last 7 tests, inc. two day 5 failures, av. of 71 in his last 5 shield games and perhaps more troubling, an wrist-spinner-esque eco rate of 3.8) though. and then doherty out performed lyon in the tour match. there's also a hint of protecting lyon in the dropping for mine. who cares if doherty goes for 3/200, but if lyon...? and in his current form, it wouldn't be that surprising. if they fly over jason krejza and pick him in the 3rd, it belongs here, but right now, it's just dropping an out of form spinner, not sacking him.
Indians can't bowl - Where has the rumour come from as I myself and many indian friends arwe competent fast bowlers ?

With the English bid I said: Let us be brief. If you give back the Falkland Islands, which belong to us, you will get my vote. They then became sad and left

Didnt know Deanos stats were that good when he was ejected. Trying to remember that far back, it was to get Punter in the team wasnt it?

Will put you out of your misery, Deano's knock in that test in one of CW's most loved memes. He talks about that knock every single chance he gets, so it's a joke on here to pretend you've never heard about it. It's one of the more famous, or infamous, innings in Australian cricket history.

Nope, he was dropped for Damien Martyn, who played 3 Tests vs WI before being injured and replaced by Justin Langer. So two good debuts.

In reality though, he was dropped instead of Mark Waugh, who had scored 144 runs @ 12.00 in his last 7 Tests before Jones was dropped (Jones had scored 586 runs @ 53.27 in his last 7)

Edit: Just realised it was worse, Waugh had just scored 4 ducks in a row in the last 2 tests vs SL, while Jones had scored 77, 100*, 11 & 21.

Jones was dropped because he didn't like it up him, and they were playing the West Indies. So many of his big scores were made in dead rubbers against the decent sides (SL weren't then, least be honest).

Safe to say having seen Doherty and Maxwell here that Lyon was unfairly treated even if he returns for the 3rd test.
