Think India would produce Mumbai type pitches. They probably would feel (rightly) that Aussies got no spinners of caliber of Swann or Panasaer.

Last thing that India should do is produce absolute bunsens. It might make our spinners a little more threatening that what they are. The wickets that they have had over the previous three or so years to get themselves to number 1 really should suffice, war of attrition, pretty flat but they will be more threatening than us.

If we produce wickets like those at the Wankhade and have to bat first up, we're absolutely ****ed.

I thought India's Hyderabad pitch vs NZ was a good template for a home Indian wicket - the extra bounce and spit makes Ashwin into a real Kumble-like threat, while most other teams have more Ojha-like spinners who benefit less from that type of wicket, and Indian batsman should be able to play them without too much trouble.

Problem is if they bowl first they could be in the field for ages if their bowlers bowl like thye have bowled in the last 12 months. If Australia put on 450-500 on a slow deck, which is entirely possible, then their brittle batting may give way (see 4th test before Dhoni and Kohli saved their arses).

I think they should be ballsy and go a Mumbai pitch. Yeah it may make Lyon and Doh-erty more threatening, but they should also back the fact their batsman over Cowan, Hughes and co, and just back that Australia don't have a KP + Cook partnership.

Also tell their spinners not to bowl half pitch on a bunsen.

Watson back for Manuka as squad off to India

so watson and clarke staying back.

As many as 11 players, including incumbent ODI squad members Phillip Hughes and Usman Khawaja, could be sent over early to India.

Also likely are Test specialists Ed Cowan, Nathan Lyon, Peter Siddle, Jackson Bird and James Pattinson, while Steve Smith and Moises Henriques appear set to join them.
+ wade. one more spot.

odd how while the australians will be playing their warm up match in chennai, australia will be playing the windies in a t20 in brisbane

from the last t20i team they'll be missing warner, maxwell, wade, starc and doherty so the t20 squad will be interesting, but yeah it just sounds odd

yeah that. probably out of rohrer/pomersbach/lynn for batsmen, haddin would come in as keeper and then i dunno, cutting for starc and some other **** as the spinner? murali imo

The 19-year-old West Australian spin bowler Ashton Agar was also included in a development capacity, after a trio of striking domestic displays since his debut for the Warriors against New South Wales at Blacktown Oval.

"[Agar] will be in India for the period 9-16 February and will play in the first warm-up fixture," the national selector John Inverarity said. "He will provide ideal practice for the batsmen in the lead-up to that first Test in Chennai.

"Last year we took Mitchell Starc to the West Indies to further his development and this is a similar opportunity for Ashton."
