What is the point of batting practice against such poor quality bowlers who have not even featured in ranji? May as well get Flower to bowl and Fletch even by your logic.
Apparently the Trott thread should be in this section even though Trott's slump has NOTHING to do with India in any shape or form
England in India 2012-13 : Jonathan Trott is in a slump, by his standards | Cricket Features | India v England | ESPN Cricinfo
Thoughts? He may score some runs on flat pitches in India but overall I think he is someone who will average 45 max-that through cutting out all risks. A very one dimensional player, definitely can be a certainty in England's ranks, but how on earth is he playing ODI cricket with a SR of 74 in this era?!
It shows you how selfish he is and very limited too.
ODIs in England have the ball doing a fair bit more than most other countries if he needs to accelerate he's more than capable of doing so but its a helluva lot easier for the team if they've got someone anchoring the innings i.e Trott.
Tbf India might as well get Fletcher to bowl for them he's probably better than most of the pacer they've turned out over the years.
Perhaps unnoticed is that his strike rate is higher than both Ian Bell and Ravi Bopara's, yet he gets more stick than either of them for his slow scoring. I think people criticise him because he's not a boundary hitter, and thus gives the impression he isn't scoring quickly, while in actual fact he is.
Back to engaging debate now if possible, guys. :p
Lets hope if he does return he is spotted by the mods. All that before the series, quite happy he has gone as he'd be even worse when we get gubbed.
