Lance Cairns is a weird selection when you've not included Flintoff, Botham, Wasim & Hadlee to name a few.

Incidentally, after reading some on your posts in the last few days, I'm massively surprised you've included the likes of Astle and Kallis (and Imran) considering they all had SRs in the 70s, because even though you've said you don't mind a high average/lower SR up top, surely the likes of Jayasuriya who averages 2-3 less than Astle, but has a SR in the 90s would be more up you alley, if you're being philosophically consistent that is.

It wasn't a well-thought out team, just solid batsmen in the top 5 and hitters all the rest of the way down.

Jayasuriya a very good choice, would probably pick him ahead of Astle, SR being the primary reason.

Interesting thing about Kallis is that it was him who got me onto the whole "SR is as important as average" thing. I ran a sim in which 11 Kapil Devs beat 11 Jacques Kallises. Something that made me realise was, if neither team is bowled out in an ODI, the one with the highest strike rate always wins.

I've got no idea how people work out these era adjustments. But I do know that I watched Garner bowl in ODIs and he was near unplayable at times. So economical it was ridiculous. He had everything: height, express pace and that ****ing awkward angular thing going on that meant he was near impossible to hit in the air long.

God he was good, and he would be the best ODI bowler in any era.
Statsguru - Choose the Bowling and ODI tabs, enter the desired Start and Finish dates, and then select Aggregate/Overall.

It then gives you the RPO etc etc for all bowlers for the 'Era' entered.

I think that a wicket-keeping purists XI needs Waite and Engineer opening.

Old Ernie was a Jones, not a Smith. :)
