Ínteresting that List A games were being played in the early 60s, but ODIs only became a thing in 71 (after a test was rained out).

What were the earliest domestic one day games?

It'd be interesting to compile an all time team of List A player's up until 71.

so after going to Eden Park to watch RSA V Pakistan, I've been able to add a couple of players into the greatest ODI side from players that I've seen live. (I never got to see Tendulkar, Wasim, Imran..... live so couldn't add them)

A Gilchrist
H Amla
J Kallis
V Kohli
AB de Villiers
Y Singh
MS Dhoni (wk) (c)
S Pollock
G McGrath
A Donald
M Muralidaran

The one concern for me is having Kallis with a fairly low strike rate. But he does offer another seam option. Is he ok at #3? would moving him to 6 (replacing Yuvi) and bringing in Sanga/Hayden be better? or even promoting Virat to 3, with AB at 4 and Bevan at 5?

ATG ODI XI with AB deVilliers (who deserves to be in now)

Sachin Tendulkar
Sanath Jayasuriya
Viv Richards
Zaheer Abbas
AB deVilliers
Michael Bevan
MS Dhoni (wk) (c)
Wasim Akram
Joel Garner
Glenn McGrath
Muttiah Muralitharan

Jaysuriya and Abbas are debatable. Others are pretty much lock in.

Best XI of players I've seen live:

1) Rahul Dravid
2) Alastair Cook
3) Kumar Sangakara
4) Sachin Tendulkar
5) Sourav Ganguly
6) Adam Gilchrist
7) Shane Warne
8) Mitchell Johnson
9) Lasith Malinga
10) James Anderson
11) Glenn McGrath

I realise some of them are out of place (notably Dravid) but with a team that solid I'm sure they could cope- not to mention, why would anyone leave out Dravid!. In terms of when I've been to test matches, I've had to use players who I saw in their traditional role on that day (otherwise the first three batsmen would probably have read "Langer, Hayden, Ponting"). Was tempting to put Strauss in, mainly for his captaincy, but the presence of Ganguly allowed the me to just put Cook in for his runs.

No need for Strauss or Ganguly with greatest captain who never was.

Strauss captained England to two Ashes series victories. Anyone who can captain the Poms to an Ashes series must be quality

Interested by using four specialist fast bowlers. I would have dropped one of them (Malinga?) for more of an all-rounder, though andmark may not have seen one that he thinks is good enough for the team
