Bhatia shouldn't be a Test prospect. There's still Abhishek Nayar, who's the best among the batsmen-who-can-bowl-seam-up group, who's yet not quite ready. In limited-overs cricket, mostly T20, he's a good interim replacement for Irfan, at best. While there are better players than Bhatia, we see lesser players like that Jadeja (since when is his bowling or batting international standard? He's not even in the top four spinners in India) get multiple chances in a row, so Bhatia's cause is clearer. His poor bowling average in ODs may weigh against him, as also Laxmi Ratan Shukla being the best seam-up batting all-rounder for 50-overs.

Sreenath Aravind. The new talking point, maybe? Not hyped for pace, not so experienced, but still in the picture. He's been doing well across the three forms of the game, a good fielder, decent pace, but still, too little domestic experience to be a serious contender outside T20Is. It's good to see he's been rewarded, but would prefer to see both Vinay Kumar and Aravind together, or Vinay coming first. Vinay never got a fair try.

Shikhar Dhawan makes 90, on course for a rapid century. Should have been picked for ODIs instead of Parthiv.

The loss of relevance of the Irani Trophy has been brought up twice in today's Mumbai (or insert Indian metro here) Mirror. I'll link them later.

    Century up for Dhawan.

But it seems a typical flat Jaipur wicket. Rajasthan won 2 and drew 7 games last season and then went on the become champions. The flat wicket is part of their strategy.

Dhawan opening for ODIs would still be a better choice than the wicketkeepers. But honestly, poor scheduling has robbed the event of some quality cricketers, making it less relevant than (believe it or not) the CLT20.

Following it on cricinfo, pitch looks absolutely flat although it was mentioned in the papers that pitch has some some grass so it will help bowlers. Either the Rajasthan bowlers have bowled poorly or the pitch is absolute road or it may be combination of both.

    Dhawan scoring at Sehwag rate

EDIT : And as I typed he got out

    Injured.
The speed at which a fielding team gets through the innings is overrated.

He is carrying a injury in his wrist/hand and has been holding it a few times, and also the wicket seems a pretty standard flat jaipur wicket. And with a strong batting lineup to bowl too and no Pankaj Singh, it has been tough for him.

We've been losing the stream quite often here on our set-tops.

Apparently, Sanjay Dixit, the RCA chief, has posted a couple of times on Cricinfo articles. Fans, not surprisingly, heckled him and claimed Rajasthan kept advancing on leads on their flat Jaipur wicket, and wouldn't be surprised if they got relegated. Not much in this Rajasthan side, but a lot more likeable than, say, Saurashtra.

Rahane looks set for a double ton here. He is just a run machine at this level.

Random Patel fell after a start yet again, and Mandeep Singh has gone off to a flyer looking impressive.

Yeah, there strategy was to get first innings lead on the flat Jaipur wicket, while Baroda who were the other finalist had a strategy of preparing really low scoring breaking wickets that turned.
