I just hate the gaps between the fixtures.

With the T20s finishing on 16 October, instead of playing the ODIs on 19, 23 and 28 it would be nice if the games were on 19, 21 and 23. 4 days in between a one day match is too many in such a short series.

The match against South Africa A could be 25-28 with the First Test starting on October 2nd instead of the 9th.

Being a week ahead means a 3rd Test could take place finishing the tour say 1 day later than the current schedule.

It would be good if it was that simple hey, they'd just be like; were having a game of cricket on these days (x-x,x-x) so everyone else sort your crap out around that if you want to be apart of it:)

"In the end, I couldn't handle it and I didn't go out of my apartment for about three weeks, apart from seeing Victor ... I cried quite a bit. I felt like I was just about at the end of it, especially as an all-rounder.
For **** sake :D

Graeme Smith always had brittle fingers and broke them many times. Now AB is captain he breaks his finger. Who would want to be SA captain.

Can't believe I haven't see Steyn bowl in a Test since the begging of January, ridiculous. Looking forward to it even more now that I've been robbed of watching AB bat in the ODI's.

I'm really interested in seeing how Johnson does in this series especially considering his record against us. Right now he is like the best example of why consistency > big wicket hauls.

Big wicket haul in one series and crap for the next couple just doesn't cut it.

He looked totally innocuous in his last test in SA, Ashwell Prince and AB played him with ease......

HASHIM AMLA will make his national captaincy debut in both the T20 and ODI formats when the Proteas start their series against Australia next week. The opening fixture is the first of two T20 International matches to be played at Sahara Park Newlands on Thursday, October 13.

Cricket South Africa’s (CSA) national selectors on Monday named the squads for both formats. Richard Levi of the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras is the only new cap (in the T20 format) while there are recalls for David Miller of the Sunfoil Dolphins in both formats and for Mark Boucher of the Cobras in the ODI format only. Heino Kuhn of the Nashua Titans will keep wicket in the T20 format.

The inclusion of Boucher and Miller at the expense of Morne van Wyk of the Chevrolet Knights, Colin Ingram of the Chevrolet Warriors and the injured AB de Villiers of the Nashua Titans are the changes to the ODI squad that did duty at the 2011 edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

“With the ICC World Twenty20 less than a year away we need to keep a solid core of experience around the side,” commented CSA selection convener Andrew Hudson, “but at the same time we want to give younger players a run as well and this certainly applies in the case of Richard Levi and David Miller.

“We don’t have a lot of T20 International matches before the ICC event so it is important that we give the likes of Levi, Miller and Colin Ingram an extended run. Heino Kuhn also gets an opportunity as a result of AB de Villiers’ unfortunate injury.

“We have left Jacques Kallis and Dale Steyn out of the T20 squad as part of our rotation policy. Both players were keen to play but this is part of our rotation policy as selectors. We have a lot of cricket ahead of us, not just this season, but also in the next off-season with the tour to England as well as the World Twenty20 and we must manage our senior players sensibly.”

Hudson said that the ODI squad just needed a few tweaks after the World Cup campaign. “We will probably go in with seven batsmen, including Boucher at No. 7, and we have kept all our bowling options that worked well at the World Cup.

“We will be able to go in with four specialist bowlers plus the back-up of Kallis, JP Duminy and Faf du Plessis.”

Boucher and Albie Morkel are carrying minor injuries but should be fit for selection.

So do you think he's saying that there's no place for Johan Botha, or Robin Peterson, considering it's the latter whose bowling worked well at the World Cup?

Or, I wonder if they'll dump both and just play the one specialist spinner in Tahir. If they do, then the comment about the World Cup bowlers seems rather besides the point.

Reckon they will bring Boucher and Tsotsobe in for Botha and Peterson. Remember these are early season pitches, however last time Australia came to South Africa (admitidly in March/April) it was the spinners, Botha and Van der Merwe, that caused all the problems. I reckon they could go either way.
