3rd ODI vs England

CW made one change, with SS Dong making his ODI debut in place of Howe. The CWers were asked to bat first on a bouncy pitch.

Their batting woes continued as progress was slow, and wickets were lost at just the wrong times. Anderson and Flintoff did the bulk of the damage with four wickets each.

CW sank to 128/5, and then 170/6, after 42 painstaking overs against the English swing and seam bowling.

Fifties from Ballich and Riley had given some shape to the innings, and so when Hing decided to slog at the end his cameo was able to lift CW past 200, the visitors closing on 216/9.

Phlegm got Trescothick out early in the reply, but Strauss and Pietersen made steady progress for the first 25, the CW seamers seeming to lack penetration. They were back in with a shout when Corrin bowled Strauss, and with the front-line bowlers not looking up to it, Narang took advantage of a rash shot from KP to have him bowled through the gate.

England looked to counter-attack this time, and Hing especially suffered as Flintoff looked to counter-attack, his 39 from 30 putting England back into control. Hing got his man when Flintoff chipped him to Spark at mid-on, but at 187/4 England needed only 30 runs from the final 10 with six wickets in hand.

Vaughan, with 42 off 70, would have been looking to stay until the end, but threw it away when he gifted Phlegm his second wicket, a leading edge off a poor shot. From there it was down to Capone, reserved seven overs from one end at the death, and Dong, on ODI debut.

Capone turned the English stumble into a collapse when Geriant Jones was bowled through the gate, and in his next over the left-armer had Tremlett out, caught by Narang. Dong struck next, removing the last recognised batsman in Newman for his maiden ODI wicket. England's tailenders were forced to crawl towards the total, with 18 needed from six overs, but now with only two wickets remaining.

When Dong began the 47th over only eight more were needed. The first two balls were dots. Harmison was trapped lbw - only one wicket to win. Anderson nudged one into the offside for two to get off the mark. The next ball was a leg side wide, and went for two more as Anderson got off strike. Only four more were needed.

Had nerves got to Dong? Evidently not, as his next ball was a beauty that Hoggard did well to nick behind. England were all out for 213.

CW won by 3 runs

4th ODI vs Pakistan

The CWers welcomed Mathieu Winne back from injury. On a pitch expected to favour pace bowling, the allrounder replaced Hing and CW bowled first.

Phlegm struck early to have Shoaib Khan out lbw, and Pakistan found it tough to score as the opening seamers were fast and accurate. Pakistan lost their second wicket when Yousuf was run out in the ninth over, his score a frustrated 11 from 26.

After Dong (at this point 4-1-7-0) was replaced by Capone, Phlegm had Taufeeq caught at square leg and Pakistan were in trouble at 28/3 in the 11th over.

Things only got worse for Pakistan as Corrin entered the fray with the wickets of Inzamam and Razzaq two overs later. When Winne bowled Yasir Hameed - the only batsman who had looked like sticking around - the Pakistanis were 68/6 in the 22nd.

Haider and Hussain attempted a steady recovery with their 34 from 14 overs, but Winne came back for his second spell and did for them both. When Capone returned, his final spell planned to last until the end, the left-armer cleaned up the last two wickets. After 40.1 overs Pakistan were all out for 126.

Any chance of a comeback was quickly silenced by Heads and Narang's opening partnership of 83. Narang took his time and would have been disappointed with his dismissal, under no pressure at all, but Heads stayed to the end with an unbeaten 66 from 80. Dharan was sent in to finish things off, his 18* off 20 hopefully a sign of a return to confidence.

Heads hit the winnings runs with a fine lofted cover drive, and CW had completed a thrashing.

CW won by nine wickets
