Don't forget the vicious slower bouncer. What, the modern T20 fast bowler's repertoire of a slow ball, the slower ball, and the even slower ball doesn't excite you?
Yes, I recall that. I would like to believe that Malinga retired from test cricket for much the same reasons that Bond did; because his body just couldn't take the strain of playing a five day game. This was expected for some time. Malinga has said he's going to retire from tests before the world cup in a interview with a local web site.
Actually four overs of Malinga in TT have a lot more variety than 4 overs of a typical test match spell. It's not all slow balls obviously. You also have in-swinging yorkers and short balls as well as the occasional length ball. In TT you have to constant vary your length and pace; otherwise you will get hit by a well-set batsman. In test cricket you can be a lot more patient and hit the same line and length to get the wicket. What, the modern T20 fast bowler's repertoire of a slow ball, the slower ball, and the even slower ball doesn't excite you?
