Hmm. Hard to split their bowling but Trumble is the better batsman (considering era) and has a really good catches to matches ratio. Therefore Trumble

The book Test Cricket Lists by Graham Dawson compiled a list of A to Z teams. I'll try and copy some later on. My copy is only current up to 1997, so some changes since then.

4 Jacques Kallis
5 Rohan Kanhai
6 Keith Miller
7 Imran Khan
8 Alan Knott
9 Kapil Dev

Okay, so Barrington is not usually an opener, but he did open a few times in Test Cricket. Am I overlooking someone instead of Higgs? I love how this team has 4 gun all rounders!

WG Grace
Sunil Gavaskar
George Headley
Greg Chappell
Graeme Pollock
Garry Sobers
Adam Gilchrist
George Lohmann
Lance Gibbs
Joel Garner
Glenn McGrath

12th man: Garth le Roux

I'd back that team against any of the rest.

We are also leaving out some pretty good opening batsmen: Gooch, Greenidge, Graeme Smith, Geoff Boycott

On reflection the other sides are damn good too. But the Gs have the best batting line up I reckon.

I forgot to mention thaty sub fielder is of course Gary Pratt

Yep the G's batting lineup is awesome.

My favourite team is the K team, it's probably not the best team on show, but I can't see this team getting defeated much (they should hold on for draws).

I absolutely love this, and will be doing it in my head all day. I will resist the temptation to visit cricket archive though - as all of us must. This matters too much to cheat.

I forgot about :Kevin Pietersen, who's better KP or Kanhai? I think it's tough, but I naturally normally go for the cricketer who has finished his career.

Man Kapil Dev at 9 is just awesome.
