From a Bombay fan last night was disappointing with the only real bright spot being Nayar. Uthappa yet again airswung across the line at so many balls that he could've murdered down the ground. Gah so frustrating.

Worst part of the night was Bhajji showing no bollocks and throwing our young Indian players Yeligati and Nayar under the bus against Hayden and Dhoni towards the end. Ridiculous, show some ****ing balls you mong and lead from the front. Desperately need Sachin back in this team.

From a national side point of view, yes Manpreet Gony looked a very good prospect. Could become a solid player and I'm chuffed at how he went last night. Jogi Sharma also bowled well too under pressure.

On another note, is anyone else finding it really awesome seeing the way guys like Hayden and Hussey were interacting with our young Indian guys? Kris Srikkanth was saying this morining how they're first two at training and the most intense trainers in the squad and it's been rubbing off on the players. He also said that socially they're very involved with the young guys and the chemistry in the team is magnificent thanks mainly to those two. Really superb stuff from those guys I must say.

Here's a wrap for Mumbai Indians.

Seeing them fail to chase down a total of over 200 against a weak, unstable bowling attack, there is a cause for concern. While the bowling was weak and tender, the dew significant and the ball hard to grip, some of the shots played by the Indians were just daft. Defensive strokes chasing a target of 200 in 20 overs was uncalled for. Moreover, with the ground so slippery, they could have just pierced gaps and boundaries were theirs. Nayar, Harbhajan, Pollock, Uthappa and Bravo did a good job with the bat, but somehow, it wasn't enough.

What the Indians see in Luke Ronchi, we don't know. We only see a big flop picked ahead of one of the premier pacers in international cricket. He was outscored by almost all the local players who got a bat, and with Mumbai lacking a bowler, they can bench him rightaway for Fernando. The team needs a superior bowler and they need to do some homework on the opposition batting, and have a plan for the playing conditions, but otherwise, they're doing well for a depleted team. The return of Sachin and Dilhara will strengthen the team a lot.

Over to the Royals, facing the Chargers. Whom do they need more behind the wickets? Kamran Akmal may be a star, but Younis Khan is a bigger star and so he may get a game ahead, while local Rawat will fit in just fine. a Younis-Rawat combo will be better than one of Akmal and a local like, say, Taruwar. Watto's had his day, so let's see who performs for them now. Warne is an innovative captain, and there's a lot we have heard about how he got a lot out of the then-unknown Dinesh Salunkhe. Let's see what he can get out of the slightly patchy Yusuf Pathan and Mohammed Kaif. This team is on an upward trend, and any team facing them is not up against Shane Warne, Younis Khan and Shane Watson. They're up against the Rajasthan Royals.

Hoping VVS Laxman makes some runs today and shuts up Ryan Campbell who just really arrogantly claimed that VVS Laxman was the worst Twenty20 batsman he'd ever seen. Pretty idiotic comment as VVS Laxman has only played two Twenty20 games in his entire career!

Maybe VVS may get more T20 matches than Campbell has internationals...

Where did you come across commentary by this former fill-in for Gilchrist?

He's one of the hosts for Channel 10 Australia's coverage here. He basically shows up at the start of each game, says a few stupid things along with the main host and then they just cross to Sony India's live feed since they are showing the official telecast. Once the game is over, they cross back to the studios in Sydney where Ryan Campbell and the official presenter talk more rubbish. Channel 10's pre game and post game coverage really is horrible. Not to mention all those ad breaks! :@

Reading the newspapers and on TV around here, the Chargers are getting absolutely hammered and labelled as "Paper Tigers."

Only a matter of time before the "What a waste" headlines start coming around unless Roy, Gilly and Afridi can do something meaningful. Herschelle Gibbs could be a catalyst for them, he's going to be gun in this tournament IMO. Just got off the plane recently so not sure if him and Smith are playing tonight.

Dilhara still injured and will be for another week or two. Surprised they haven't withdrawn him. But I guess he is still a good chance for back end of league. So they don't really have any other options unless they go for Prince or Loots. Loots and Ronchi are about par for par really. Prince would have to be your last point of call in Twenty20.

Gibbs is playing most probably...He was seen during practice...So which 4 internationals will play then?...Symo, Gilly and probably Gibbs are sure...and given the format Afridi won't be stopped...Does that mean no Styris? And more importantly no Vaas?...That'll make the bowling even worse given the bowling form of the likes of Symonds...Dropping Vaas will be a mistake...But who should be dropped to include him?

Smith will be playing. Gibbs is likely to be held back until Symonds is playing in the West Indies. Mind you it wouldn't surprise me if they drop Vaas and play Gibbs.

What about Malinga? Where is he?...Loots>>Ronchi in t20, has great t20 record in RSA domestically (averages over 50 with strike rate over 150, as far as I remember)...Waiting to see this batting line-up soon - Sanath, Sachin, Loots, Uthappa...Also, why they are not playing some1 like Rahane and filling up with mediocre allrounders is not understandable. Heard that he is a genuine talent. In that case, Rahane + Dilahara or Malinga >> 3-4 mediocre allrounders.

Smith is a must...Ya but under the circumstances dropping Vaas will make the bowling even weaker...I mean when you have 3 greats why load the batting with more when your bowling is struggling...Having said that, I also won't be surprised if they drop Vaas for Gibbs, the latter being such an alluring option in the shorter versions of the game.

Malinga injured and has been withdrawn for Bravo. Rahane is an opening batsmen so as long as Ronchi or Loots play he probably wont get a game. Ronchi does have a s/r near 200 in Twenty20, average only 20 odd. But he is probably more of an explosive batsmen if he comes off. They got plenty of issues with their side with injuries and poor quality overseas players and back up Indian bowlers/all rounders. At full strength they would be pretty decent but they have no back up internationally or locally.
