Generally cricketers aren't as well off as stars from other sports like Soccer or the American sports. The exceptions are the Indian stars and the superstars from the other countries. Most of their income comes from endorsements rather than salary.

Alot, more than rugby league players for example would earn, but not a speckle on the likes of David Beckham, Rafeal Nadal or Lebron James

Hmmm. On average, yeah Cricket players earn nothing compare to other sports. However, top players like Tendulkar are on par with other sports IMO. Think about the fact that Tendulkar earned that $24 mil or whatever in endorsement deals in India. The value of dollar is a whole lot more in India then it is in the United States or Europe. So in effect, Tendulkar only needs to earn half as much as the athletes in the West to have the same buying power.

I think the highest earning Australian cricketer last year was Adam Gilchrist, with a tick over $2 million. So yeah, given that he's played both forms of the game for Australia for nigh on eight years...you do the math.

Wasn't the money he made by using his brain in the market (he's apparently quite good at it) included in that figure? Not negating your point, but just wondering if that's what he made just through cricket and endorsements or not.
