Indian Cricket League thread

Cant believe this thread didn't come up again. The finals were absolute crackers. Hyderabad Heroes doing the unthinkable and putting it past the Lahore Badshahs two games in a row, the second final going down to a bowl-out. :)
Finals were a cracker, but the tournament was largely boring.

They're really desperate when you find that they've announced a so-called World Series to start barely months after that.

How is that desperation? They had a 4 day tournament in mind all along anyway. It makes for better quality to have 3 teams in it than 7 or 8.

not really... The viewership has definitely improved and there are more crowds. I understand they can, and probably would be, swept away once the IPL starts but they are still doing better than I, for one, expected them to and kudos to Subhash Chandra and his men for that....... :)

This is really rubbish.

Didnt mind the IPL at all

Good to see young guys and some oldies get a go plus cricket wasnt bad

Also, crowds really started to get behind it

Just goes to show how much we're controlled by the media when, because of BCCI led blackouts, it gets bugger all exposure

They had their first T20 tournament in November 2007, then barely into Jan/Feb 2008, they started a very nondescript 50-over tournament, and just recently, when they haven't even completed a year, they started their second T20 tourament, with some cosmetic changes and two new teams.

But we know where the attention of the cricket fans was. Clearly, either they were watching the Indian team in action, or the IPL auctions on the news channels and shows. When neither happened, they'd watch international cricket matches. The domestic cricket scene has never appealed to the fans (more Indian team fans than (Indian) cricket fans) even when there's a lot of action, let alone this league, which has looked largely uninteresting. Some even brand it second-tier cricket. Now, barely weeks after their second T20 tournament finishes, they announce a so-called World Series, with teams so badly composed, they'll draw no crowds. No ICL New Zealand, though their best players of recent times figure there. The Indian ICL team is a sad joke.

why no mongia and badani in ICL india team or did i miss it ????

Any way have seen some matches ...liked a few...
heard Badani is injured. Not sure about Mongia.
But don't think it is that bad, personally. Obviously, there is a very good chance that they might be swept away once the IPL starts, but so far they are more than holding their own and that is good to see.

I am wondering if they will be able to rope in Dalmiya, somehow..... :)

Yeah throw in Fleming and my money would be on the ICL NZ team in all forms of the game.
Yeah considering the number of NZ players that are in ICL we could soon see a NZ team playing in the ICL.

Can't believe bloody Marto is running around in this.

Wonder if he'll bale half way through the series.

I could see ICL buying heaps of kiwis they are a dead easy buy, what do they get in domestic cricket. And surely those who don't play IPL are vulnerable.

Not Terrible
Yeah but ICL needs the $$$ coming in to keep shelling out to pick up our boys. Do they have the revenue coming in to make it worthwhile poaching our domestic troddlers?

Fox sports has some ICL games on atm, the grounds are full, atmosphere is great and the cricket isnt that bad.
Would watch it again tbh, also doesnt look much like its dying out, would have to be making money imo.
