Arjun

Cricketer Of The Year
WORST:
  1. Maharaj of Vizianagaram (a.k.a. Vizzy)- the well-read historian at the wrong place
  2. Narottam Puri- The commentator who thinks he's a physicist- talk about trajectories, curvilinear motion and so on
  3. Amir Sohail- Tries to get into too many scraps on air
  4. Anshuman Gaikwad- Puts you to sleep quickly, especially when minnows clash
  5. Michael Atherton- Oh well.....he never liked the media in his playing days
  6. Venkatesh Prasad- He's, ahhh, ahhh, a little, ahhh, well, ahhh, toungu-tied.
  7. Peter Bacellas- you haave tho listen tho believe- ith can geth irrithathing ath thimes, especially when he stharths screaming.
BEST:
  • Alan Wilkins (usually a presenter, but a very good commentator).
  • Richie Benaud
  • Mike Haysman
  • Ian Botham
  • David Gower
  • Geoff Boycott
  • Ravi Shastri (except for the Agarkar connection)
  • Navjot Singh Sidhu
  • Imran Khan
  • Wasim Akram
  • Martin Crowe

Richie - when he slows down when talking t-o r-e-a-l-l-y e-m-p-h-a-s-i-s-e a p-o-i-n-t. What a legend, the gandalf of cricket
David Lloyd - the exuberance and enthusiasm and lancastrian accent
Botham and Boycott - continents of common sense(most of the time)
Tony Greig - is becoming more like a cricket version of murray walker - "it's a six!! No he's out!!"
Michael Holding - that accent is so damn cool, bet he gets laid alot.
Haha!! What a good post! :)

Coney for me, informative and really funny sometimes, especially in pitch reports, will never forget the game at the stadium in Wellington not long after the David Bowie concert when he pointed to the ground and said something like "now this is where they tapped their feet vigourously, and experienced patches of incontinence" or something. Very, very funny.

Can't say I like Martin Crowe, he keeps talking about how each batsman should play the way he did, gets a bit boring.

As bad as Willis is he always makes me laugh when he doesn't like something. Robin Jackman is good along with David Lloyd, Tony Greig, Bill Lawry, Sanjay Manjrekar, Richie benaud and Mark Nicholas.

mark nicholas is my all-time worst commentator i can't stand him - if there was an option of muting his commentary i would pay good money for it, michael holding is a favourite too and i don't mind all the aussies despite their patriotism - ian healy is the only one that gets on my nerves at all.
on that note i think the australian prime minister is a cracker of a commentator and should switch jobs

he done a bit of work in the bangladesh v NZ series

here's a classic coney line,
"There is Chris Harris, bowling another ball. It comes out of his hands like an inexperienced gynaecologist - a rather slow delivery."

I like:

Kerry O'Keefe - for the laugh.
Bill Lawry (especially when he's screaming his **** off - 'Gooonee', it's pretty amusing)
Michael Holding
Tony Grieg (when he's in with Bill Lawry) does say some funny things though.
Max Walker
Richie - but I think he's losing it slowly.

I dislike:

Jim Maxwell - with a passion. If the idiot spent less time making up his own cricketing terms and more time understanding the game he'd be right. e.g : 'OUT..............no, it's six.', 'it's a french cut, they practice that shot in the nets'

Ian Smith - but I've only heard him when NZ are playing.

I'm still not sure about Mark Nicholas ....

Jeremy Coney is extremely intelligent & I think he paints a good picture of the match. Although sometimes he does go off in tangents.
He does paint a very good picture of the match, Channel 9 are merchandising a few at the moment of matches gone by and they look very nice. :p

Bill Lawry for me. Tony Greig, Ian Chappel and Michael Holding are my other favourites.

Not enough people have mentioned David Lloyd. Are you people missing out or can't you see the magic of the man? :p

I CANT beleive not anyone has mentioned TONY CONZIER, he is a champion i love his voice, just like mikey holding.
BEST
-Tony Conzier-just listen to him
-Micheal holding- " " " "
- Ravi Shastri- again nice voice, nice knowlegde of the game.

WORST
-Benaud- i think its time he needs a dosage of viagra for each commentary stint.
-Ian Smith- didnt mind him until recent Aus V NZ series where he couldnt stop whinging abt lbw decisions.
-Mark Taylor- he probaly has troubles educating his 7 year old son.
