Don't disagree with you but that's a symptom of our malaise.

No matter how good Burns may end up being I don't think a guy like Burns who has come off a Shield season with the mighty average of 34.5 should be anywhere near the team in front of a guy with 8,000 fc runs @ 43 batting at the sharp end who has had yet another 40+ average season let along a guy with 19,000 fc runs at 50 opening who has averaged 50 again this Shield season. We just don't have that luxury atm.

I'm a Burns fan and hope he can come on and become a top notch player, but let him force his way in by making runs. Not a couple of tons and lots of ducks and sfa scores. We might as well have stuck with Marcus North if that was all we were looking for.

Unfortunately the selectors dont seem to think this way

No idea about the other two batsmen. Imagining Watson will come back in at #4.
I don't see a guy who can't or won't shift the pounds expected of a professional sportsman fitting into the current Australian team, particularly off the back of homework gate.

From an English point of view, our 3rd seamer spot will be interesting.

Suspect the early season county games will be pretty important. Reckon it's a three way battle between Bres, Finn and Onions.

How long as he been a trundler for? Looked a legit fast bowler during the U19 days but he also looked like a proper batsman then as well.

Hadn't though about him really. Didn't play at all last season did he? Reckon it could be a bit of a long shot for him to be back to his best come July, but I'd certainly be a fan of him being around the side if he can get fit and start bowling well. I'd particularly be keen for him to tour Australia again.

If he can play regular county cricket up until July then he should be more than ready. It is a massive if though.

If he is fit though I have no doubt that Anderson, Broad and Tremlett is England's best attack.

I know what you're saying, but I think it's time to select some batsmen who can make some runs.

Been having a debate with my friend on this point. Curious to see CW's view.

Will any Australian fast bowler play 5 Ashes tests - not taking into account injury? By that I mean, will any fast bowler not be rotated/rested?

I reckon that a fast bowler will play 5 tests but my mate doesn't.

Surely with this ridiculous set of 10 test matches and both bowling attacks having injury problems the Ashes are going to be a full-on cripple fight by the end.

Siddle's a good shot given that he's not the same age as J-Pat or Starc.
    5-0

    RIP Craig Walsh (Craig) 1985-2012

Proudly supporting the #2 cricketer of all time.
