Spot on. Bowling short may work but the margin for error is so small. You are removing a lot of other ways of dismissing him and if you are fractionally off then it is playing to his strength.

Even then, if he sense a problem he is happy enough and patient enough to watch them go by.
Even if it doesn't work, the thing is if you can drag your length back and cut off his scoring options (and lets face it the guy doesnt have the cut shot either so the majority of his scoring shots are drives and flicks off the pad), it will still keep him quiet. I think there is a real problem with the bowling when a player like Trott is scoring at a strike rate of 55+. South Africa did this brilliantly and even Pakistan to some extent just let him block it out and eventually get himself out going for a drive thats not really there.

You genuinly think this Australian attack has the ability to execute a plan that South Africa and Pakistan did?

Is Bollinger normally this terrible?
Obviously not

Problem seems to be that with Cook plonking his front foor half-forward in front of middle and then playing around it, the bowlers seem to sense an lbw at any time so are bowling at middle

Unfortunately, this plays to his strengths

Yeah, thats also fair. It should be possible to keep Trott at or around a SR of 30 or so

What a time for Cook to get his form back.... runs in both the tests... and if he continues like this at top of the English order, Aussies may very well say good bye to the series.

just shown that cook has scored 400 already in this series. Not half way throught he 2nd test? Now that is impressive.

So you bowl one ball in an over, it gets hit for four, then you completely change the field? Not exactly showing great confidence in your bowler there.
