    Cryptic Ashes

    A quick cryptic crossword-style effort - some players and things past and present with some connection to the Ashes

    1. Aussie bowler shows bottle (9)
    2. South African import threw a wobbly (7, 5)
    3. Bitter sweet? (6, 4)
    4. Lab equipment sometimes found in Sydney (6, 6)
    5. Run madly for the prize (3)
    6. The friends from France I abandoned with an old keeper (3, 4)
    7. Wild pony tricking chimp (5, 7)
    8. Recommend Jody, for example, a one-time record holder (3, 6)
    9. Victorious captain with large gun (3, 4)
    10. Tourist reportedly wrote letter from America (8, 4)
