Worst incident you've seen while playing

Years ago, a team-mate ran into a picket fence whilst fielding.

Unfortunately for him, the bolts securing the fence were on the side facing the field and one of them cut him from basically his chin to his hairline.

It was an horrific injury that looked like something out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

He ended up suing the local council and the NSWCA (I think) and the incident was one of the reasons behind the introduction of fielding ropes at major grounds in Australia

Damn, I'd have loved to have done that case. That's a good injury. Worth plenty.

I had a friend get under a very high ball and try the catching method where you have your fingers facing up in front of your face... I guess the theory is you have to catch it because if you don't it smashes into your face, well it passed through his hands and broke his nose. was not pretty

to this day i'm stil kind of nervous to catch with my hands right in front of my face like that even though i know its good technique

Have seen an umpires's nose get broken from a wayward throw from the outfield. The big, arcing sort. Nothing compared to some of the other things listed here.

I think the worst incident I've ever seen was Simon Davis getting a Test cap.
