You have to look for some upside to it but he is someone who was played nearly 50 games and has repeatedly shown that he can’t produce more than the odd performance with bat and ball. This is a step backwards imho. Getting better at white ball might also just be because he barely played it before didn’t he?

The process began with a shortlist of candidates selected based on factors including Test experience, leadership qualities, and captaincy credentials. The shortlisted players included: John Campbell, Tevin Imlach, Joshua Da Silva, Justin Greaves, Roston Chase, and Jomel Warrican.

Each candidate went through a detailed assessment process that included psychometric testing to evaluate leadership style, behaviour, and overall suitability for the role, as well as structured interviews focused on tactical approach, communication skills, and team culture. The interview panel consisted of Head Coach Daren Sammy, Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe, and Chairman of the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee, Enoch Lewis.

The final recommendation was based on a weighted scoring system across six key areas: leadership, respect within the team, cricket knowledge, personal conduct, media and communication skills, and the results of the psychometric evaluation. The top-ranked candidates were recommended as captain and vice-captain and subsequently approved by the CWI Board.

So, they didn't pick these names out of a hat. I want to see the final scores.
Corporates and their psycho analysis 😭

We knew that Sammy was going to do some major overhaul...but as you've said, it is a step backwards.

It does seem they checked everything but actual cricketing ability and whether they actually deserve selection or not....

Having slept on it, the best rationale I can come up with is that they wanted some experience to lead the side for two years whilst the younger candidates hopefully earn their place in the side and perform (Josh, Tevin).

Other than that I've got nothing...

We’ve dominated FC cricket in region for the better part of 15 years. We have a skipper who is used to winning…yet these dumbasse$ would rather go for a rubric that’s mostly off the field of play.

On our ODI batting, I had an epiphany last night.

Shai Hope is the best ODI opener in our history, by far, at least statistically. He moved to number 4 to add stability to the middle order. However, Carty is now playing that role to perfection anyway.

With Rutherford excelling at 5, and Pooran likely to come back to ODI cricket soon, we are stacked with middle order options when at full strength. So, let's move Hope back to the top.

A batting lineup like this would be exceptional:

Shai Hope (average 49, strikes at 80)
Evin Lewis (average 37, strikes at 86)
Keacy Carty (averages 50, strikes at 83)
Nicholas Pooran (averages 39, strikes at 99)
Sherfane Rutherford (averages 71, strikes at 111)
Roston Chase (averages 26, strikes at 76)
Romario Shepherd (averages 17, strikes at 102)
Spinner (who can bat, hopefully Motie)
Alzarri Joseph
? (Opening bowler with pace or angle)
Jayden Seales

Bowling is weak still, but that is what it is. The top 5 is exceptional.

Record for our (ODI) batters in the past 3 years...day and night,

Gajnabi needs to go. She's a nothing player. She was originally a bowling all-rounder. Now, she doesn't even bowl and her batting is ****

She's from the village I grew up in...and it's tough to see her paltry numbers.
