Will Warney's Record Be Broken?

I've always seen Richard as the Scott Muller of the cricket forum, completely incompete--I'll stop now before I get myself in trouble.

Only joking mate ;)

Ponting gets the rough end of the stick no matter what he does. He's a legend in my eyes though, keep up the good work Punter.

And will Murali break Warney's record? Well, unless he sleeps with an average of 50 women per year and Warney has a dry spell I don't think so....

I will Stand Up for Murali

:) He's been a treat to watch and most aussies I know love the guy!

I hope he does well on tour here! It will be interesting to see if he has learned from last tour here as our pitches are unique as we all know, he needs a good slider!:)

Possibly because he can of times be rude and unneccessarily combative TBH. :) And that people like to work-up that sort of thing and exaggerate it beyond its real frame. I have rather a bit of experience of such a thing myself. :p
I disagree that one can be unnecessarily (one C Richard) combative!
If you are Captain of the best Cricket side around one must not get complacent!:)

By the way Richard, I frequently visit CW after i've been to the Pub after work so please forgive my silly rants and raves from time to time and I'm sorry if I have been a bit rude mate!:)

Cheers and love to Devon:cool:

Whatever it takes!!!
Because I beleive it would be fitting or 'right' for Warne to hold the record.
lol, I feel the same about Richard Hadlee.... But the game goes on.... We just have to live with it.

Imagine me having to live through the horrors of Ponting breaking Lara or Sachin's record. :-O :(

Oh, for sure. I was equally disappointed when Yousuf broke Viv Richard's batting record for most number of Test runs in a year. But the game goes on.

But none of this will compare to what Prince EWS will have to go through after Symonds hits a double century against us later this year..... ;) Would it?

Muttiah Muralitharan will be here in Aus this summer.

Will he pass warney's record?

Warney took most of his wickets against quality opposition though.

I'll say no more:cool:

This is like saying the sun will rise in the east...of course the record will be broken by Murali, eventually.

Before you shoot off half-baked statements like above, take a look at the stats.
- Warne has taken more tailenders than Murali
- Murali's strike rate (53) is far superior to Warne (57)...ie this means, Murali simply takes less balls to take a wkt than Warne (or more wkts in the same no. of balls)
- Murali's record against the stronger countries (excl Zim & Bangl) outside the sub-continent pitches is as good as his record on the sub-continent.

Take a moment to double check my stats above with some research on Cricinfo.

Hope this helped your education process.

Bradman-The Murali of Batting!

(although TBF he's a better bowler than the last time he played for SL in a test in Australia which amazingly was in 1995.).The )
Reminder that in Murali's last Test in Aus, he took 5 wkts in seamer friendly conditions (in Oct 2005, Sydney).

Yeah, it's always abit sad when one of your sporting heroes gets their records broken but as you say the game goes on and that's the nature of sport. Couldn't think of anyone better than Murali to take it as well and the irony of doing it in Australia will be extra special :p

That said, I hope he doesn't take any wickets against us, being a passionate Australian fan and all.

As Kamran Abbasi said, IMO his humility meant he deserved to break it, even if he was unbelievably lucky to score a great many of those runs.
