It's actually pretty close IMO; a bit closer than some in this thread are giving it credit for, I reckon. But still Lara.

S Waugh V Dravid would be a better comparison.
Lara is of course the better batsman overall, and the champion of the modern era in putting up really really big knocks. So a general poll like this goes to Lara.
But who would I want to bat for my life? (Greatness tempered with consistency..)
SRT > Dravid, Kallis, Ponting > Lara
In the middle group, due to recent frailties, Dravid probably weakest among the three. But there was a considerable period of time when I'd pick Dravid over SRT on the 'bat for your life' criterion.
