Mate your talking no sense. They've been desperately poor in this series. That doesn't mean Pakistan,SA,Windies or NZ would beat them.
What don't you understand pup? What doesn't make sense to you? I'll try to explain it better for you

SO whats West Indies test form right now? They lost to INdia at home. India, who cannot win anywhere to save their souls. And then traveled to Pakistan and lost again.

What exactly gives you that confidence about West Indies?
name some of englands players right now who would beat west indies?

heck engldng couldnt even beat an injury ravaged new zealand 2 weeks ago

Okay Fiery I am with you on the fact that no England are not, at the moment, the second best team in the world. But they certainly are better than the West Indies, WI are by far the worst test team out of the top 8 at the moment.

Also, yes England at the moment are not the second best team (yes maybe 3-4 months ago but not now), because they are clearly demoralized and if they were to face any other opposition such as Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and India... they would not win the series. And I am not afraid to say that because I know we cannot outline their current form by looking at results over the past year. For majority of the past year and a half they played amazing and deserved the second spot, but sorry to say not now. They are, once again, clearly demoralized and imo a very vulnerable team at the moment.

But to say West Indies would beat them is quite absurd. This current West Indian team can't win a Test for beans against any of the other top 7 nations. Heck, not even Newzealand would beat them.

EDIT: I am talking about Tests, btw, in ODIs England are pure pure pure crap. I would love to see a match between them and Bangladesh at the moment, like literally.
Brian Lara could probably beat them on his own

And England beat them 3-2 home and away. Your point? And oh, England also beat SA 2-1......in SA.
Very different England side 2 years ago ...

Like I said elsewhere, I don't think there's a clearcut number 2 at present. Anyone from England, SA, India, Pakistan and maybe SL could win that particular tournament, and still get roundly thrashed by Aus.

Cook, Strauss, Bell, Collingwood, Pietersen (if he wasn't injured), Flintoff, Read, Hoggard, Panesar.

Pakistan or South Africa or NZ or Sri Lanka will all kill England in a test series right now
I want to know the reason why SA or Pakistan would easily beat England.I want you to tell me after one series defeat why these other test teams would beat England.

One bad series? What about against Sri Lanka, who are worse off than India in Tests.

Also, England beat an Akhtar less Pakistan side and for the majority an Asif less test side at home 2-0, and you feel that's a big achievment? Ridiculous.

And yes as wpdavid said there is no clear cut number two at the moment. And please don't get me wrong here when I am commenting on England's currently bad test form at the moment, as far as this poll goes, I still believe England would easily beat West Indies - and there should be no doubt about it.

But England certainly aren't as good, based on current form, as you guys are making them out to be.

That's because they didn't play a Test against an injury ravaged New Zealand side two weeks ago. Can't win a game that doesn't happen.

This has to rank as one of the more bizarre threads - serious ones, that is - of recent times...

It's pretty stupid to consider ODIs for anything. England being thrashed hollow in any ODI going does not equate to anything in Test-cricket.

If this ODI series had not happened and England had instead travelled to the Caribbean to play the home side... I'd back England to win every game (unless one was at St.John's or Bourda).

No, England's Test side is not currently anywhere near as good as it was in 2004 and 2005, and yes we've had some dire results of late (failing to beat SL at home quite honestly ranks pretty close to losing 5-0 in Aus for mine). But we're still a damn sight better than West Indies, who have won 1 Test in the last 4 years, have not won a series in 5 or an away Test for 6. Even that was in Zimbabwe, the one side who before becoming so poor as to be completely discounted were worse than them.

The last time (other than that St.John's freak vs Aus) that they beat someone other than a subcontinental team at home or Zimbabwe was SA in 2001 (a dead game) and England in 2000... and even then they lost both series.

West Indies' last really notable achievement in terms of team results was in 1999, when they tied with Australia. They also beat Pakistan thanks to bad Umpiring and the most crucial missed run-out in Test history.

You have watched us play test cricket recently, right?
Has anyone?

Anyway, the point I think that this poster is attempting, albeit incoherently, to make, is that the England team is bereft of morale and confidence. It's much like taking the best goalkeeper in the world, chopping both arms and legs off, planting his limbless torso on a goal line and gloating in the fact that a six year old boy would score past him ten times out of ten. Probably valid, but completely irrelevant.

EDIT: 19,000. Worth the wait? Well... it weren't a one liner, I suppose.
