Who will win these battles

He hit the entire attack. And it was a great knock regardless of if ODIs. Clearly you can't dismiss the BGT performance as a fluke.
Never called it a fluke, but certainly not something I will bring while discussing Test much. Maxi legit played the single Greatest innings that WC, but don't think that will reflect that well. I just can't see him replicating it regularly.

Well no, there's no certainty. But if I said Lara would average 50+ vs Jasprit, I'd be laughed off this forum and deservedly so. Why? Because Lara had issues with express great pace. Same logic I'm using with Viv.
1. Bumrah isn't express pace.
2. If they laugh at you, they simply are wrong. Ofcourse Viv is more likely to score against Bumrah than Lara, but there is legit no certainty that might happen.

Tbf, I think more often than not batsmen vs Bowlers hardly represent the way the matchup went properly. I mean, if you think about it, that's really the smarter thing to do. If a batsman scores some runs in a match against a bowler they, we will all praise the batsman irrespective of how many he scored to them. The same is not true for bowlers.
Racist policy.

This is a hypothetical thread. What "certainty" are you talking about?

Root's performance versus Bumrah is not a one-to-one reference for how Viv might fare against him. Root's particularly well-suited to handle Bumrah, i.e. when he's not doing stupid ****, because of how late he plays in front of the wicket and off his pads especially. The crossbat shots that @subshakerz suggests might be Viv's counters are in fact detrimental to surviving Bumrah.

Viv had perhaps the greatest reflexes the game has seen as a bat. Give him a modern bat and he would be crossbatting Bumrah enough to rattle him from having a consistent off line. How many bats today are even attempting to hook or pull Bumrah?

Viv is certainly cooler than Bumrah I can say that much
On the surface, maybe. Viv's got the body language and was obviously a greater hit with the ladies, but peel back past that stuff and I don't think they're very different at all in terms of being the absolute generals on the field for their teams. They'd be fantastic teammates actually.

Bumrah is very low-key.
