People have not suggested them, they have merely mentioned them as players on the fringes who may block the path of other uncapped contenders. The only reason Blackwell came up was as an unlikely option as a second spinner in India, which could in turn prevent the likes of Swann or Rashid make a debut.I find it interesting to note that some of the above players are not actually debutents, they have actually played Test Cricket before in the past.
Ian Blackwell, for example.
Already has.Thats not serious is it? Blackwell must never play Test cricket. If he does im convinced the world will end.
Already has.
That just isnt true. Far more bowlers are used and they are dropped far more easily.Expect it to be a batsman rather than a bowler. The batters are more susceptible than the bowlers to losing their places in the side and I would be quite surprised, especially when Jones returns, if England will go in with 2 spinners in their side at any point in time.
In no small part because of late they've performed far worse. That just isnt true. Far more bowlers are used and they are dropped far more easily.
Let me rephrase for a second. I cannot see an England side without 3 or 4 (depending on whether they go in with a 5 or 4 man attack) of Anderson, Sidebottom, Harmison, Jones, Broad and Flintoff. I realize that the faster men are more likely to get injured than a batsman or a spinner given how much mileage they have to get through every test match, but I dont see them looking outside of this ***tet nor do I see them going in with a 2 spin bowling attack (and hopefully they dont consider the latter option given the quality of spin reserves available). Personally, I think England should consider playing an all pace attack more often than not outside the subcontinent, but whether they consider doing that is another matter. That just isnt true. Far more bowlers are used and they are dropped far more easily.
There was an article on this topic the other day. Ill look for a link.

My pick is Samit Patel. He's just been picked in the ODI squad which means the selectors rate him, and his FC record is pretty decent. The fact that he bowls left arm tweakers could help in the subcontinent as well. I wouldn't pick him but he's one who stands out to me as being at all likely to "jump the queue". Else, <insert random wicket keeper's name here>.
Yeah, he'd be my pick too. He's obviously in the selectors minds with his promotion to the ODI squad and his SLA, which looks serviceable on the few occasions I've seen it, means we'd have two spinning options without the need to use Collingwood as first/second (dependent on the team's make up) change seamer.I'll go with Samit Patel. His part time spin might result in a reason for selection over the likes of Bopara, and that would be the best for all parties.
