Stats, reports etc. The differences are pretty vast though so I'm confident in that claim.Out of interest, and I'm not implying anything PEWS, have you seen Blackwell bat at FC level or you going off second hand info like stats, reports etc.? (geniune question as well)
I wonder when the last time the worst wicketkeeper-batsman in the country playing as a first-choice for his county played a Test was?Phil Mustard
Yeah, he's not good. He's "less horrible" in the longer form though.I'd say Blackwell is a hopeless batsman in both forms of the game. He's been very fortunate to play at Taunton which is so small it makes his brand of swinging through and accross the line more effective than it has any right to be.
Haha, i was thinking more of the Mushtaqs. But i just read they've signed up to the ICL so it may be even further fetched than i first thought.I think Murtaza Hossain is already. *Shudder*
Nooooooooooooo, please.Rashid (2nd Spinner in India).
Aye, Bresnan's bowling in both game-forms this season has been decent, for the first time ever in both respects. I'm kinda in a Bennett-style situation with him - he doesn't mind Mahmood playing for Lancs, I don't mind Bresnan playing for us. And before this season, neither of us thought they were good enough to play for our respective counties. But I don't ever see him being a Test or ODI-class bowler TBH. And I'd rather if no-one tried again barring something extraordinary.Haha. Bresnan was dire was he played ODIs but IMO he has some potential in the longer form. Obviously it'd be pretty insane to pick him now but there might not be a Test debutant for a couple of seasons and his figures have definitely improved in recent times. The players you'd assume are currently on the fringes or just outside that have all played Tests before - Bopara, Broad, Shah, Key, Prior, Harmison, Tremlett, Jones. By the time all those guys have been tried out, Brensan could well have built on this season and fully deserve selection. Solanki isn't going to happen though.![]()

So Ian Blackwell's better than Stephen Stubbings or Arul Suppiah (to pick two names from the counties he's played for who have lower First-Class career averages)?
No.
If Blackwell had played for anyone other than Somerset in the last 8 years he'd never have made half the runs he has.
