Was not bad once upon a time, but should have retired from the commentary box some 15 years ago. Even back then, both as a columnist or a commentator would keep harping on his pet peeves (England bashing, perceived lack of integrity from the Aussies, standards of cricket from lesser teams today); the phrase "give it a rest" would come to mind. Didn't help that he effectively came under the BCCIs roster. Complete dinosaur today - must be disheartening for younger folks who have better commentary chops but won't be allowed anywhere near a mic.

Enjoyed his work as a "presenter" - in the late 80s, there was a series on Doordarshan called "Sunil Gavaskar presents" in which he took you through highlights of several classic matches (not necessarily involving India). My dad recorded the whole thing on video cassette, absolute gold. A few years later, when I was just old enough to start "getting" cricket, those episodes were a proper gateway drug. For that I'll always be grateful.

Exactly he has some gurdge against Australians and Englishmen but he is ok towards Pakistanis. Imran made some racist comments towards indian people and indian players but gavaskar shamlessly sucks to him imagine if same was said by aussie or Englishmen same sunny would have been turned into nationalist war machine. This man should retire form com box

I liked him more during pre-IPL days, was more straightforward with his opinions and wasn't concerned about what others would think.

Now, he's much more careful on whom to criticize.

Only used to come across him on TMS, didn't mind him, certainly couldn't trot out his anti English rhetoric on the BBC. Now he just comes across as a racist bellend, same as that Harsha Bhogle cretin.
