What is the best 'below ATG' XI?

AndrewB

International Vice-Captain
I don't think <45 batting and >30 bowling are equally "non-AVG".
Post-war, there are:
- 887 batsmen with 10+ innings in the top 7, of whom 107 have a 45+ batting average
- 573 bowlers with 25+ wickets, of whom 198 have a <30 bowling average.

Without writing a ****load of players names down to specifically include, he’s given a statistical guideline. Besides otherwise the thread would devolve into “is this player ATG”
Yeah I wanted to classify those who may have been good but didn't have the statistical output to show for it.

Initially I thought below 40 for batsmen, but I thought that may be too restrictive.

Poor Stewart, forced to take the gloves again.

Anderson will likely make the real XI.
Good point about Anderson actually. Willis or Statham can replace him then. Thorpe over Gower/KP probably one of my most controversial opinions but not fussed between those three.

Whatever it takes!!!
Ravi seems unusually off the boil today on comms. Thought Washy just came on when he had already bowled an over, missed the fact that the earlier appeal was striking Chapman outside off when playing a shot (said it was umpire's call) and then said Chapman has come out when he was already there and it was Philipps who was the new batsman.

Guessing UP is not a dry state like Gujarat.

Are you saying his commentary is below ATG.

The OP states "Bowlers all averaging no less than 30" yet people keep posting teams with the likes of Walsh (24.4), Anderson (26.1), Snow (26.7).
By all means, have your opinion as to which players are below ATG, but why muddy the waters when the parameters were set in the OP.

1st XI - Crowe averages too much.

2nd XI - There are lots of openers better than Jayasuriya and Mark Taylor. Turner for instance.

You've picked 2 allrounders when only one is eligible.

how have two Taylors been selected and neither is Ross? Also Crowe averages over 45. Also Lyon > Prasanna/Qadir. Also no Evans?
